( ÷ Component indictment describes the process of analyzing specific failure patterns, either independently or over a given time interval, and recommending a component's removal. Normally, a service request is initiated to replace indicted components.
( kThe Indictment API provides a common mechanism for Compaq Analyze to notify the operating system that a component is faulty and needs to be replaced. The Hardware Component Module receives the indictment notification, marks the component as indicted, places the indicted state in a permanent store, and posts an indictment event to the Event Management Subsystem.
