Time syntaxes, such as, UTC Time, represent the year as aK two digit number For example, 10.30am GMT on 5th January 1997 is2 expressed in UTC Time as 970105103000Z.M With the new time matching rules, a time value with a year that isL less than 50 is assumed by the DSA to be after 2000. For example,J a time value containing the year 01 is assumed by the DSA to be 2001.L A time value with the year equal to or greater than 50 is assumedL by the DSA to be between 1950 and 1999. For example, a time value= with the year 97 is assumed by the DSA to be 1997.K Note that existing time values stored in the directory that con-J tain a year value less than 50 will be affected by the new time* matching rules used by the DSA.D Upgrading from Pre-V2.0 Versions of the Directory ServiceL If you are upgrading from V2.0 or later, there is no need to read this section.J If you are upgrading from a pre-V2.0 installation, the V3.1 in-J stallation converts your existing database to change the objectL identifiers of the attribute types listed in the following table. N ___________________________________________________________________N Table_1:__Attribute_Types_Whose_Object_Identifiers_Are_Converted___N Attribute_Type______________New_Object_Identifier__________________A name becomes {attributeType 41}A givenName becomes {attributeType 42}A initials becomes {attributeType 43}A generationalQualifier becomes {attributeType 44}A uniqueIdentifier becomes {attributeType 45}A dnQualifier becomes {attributeType 46}A enhancedSearchGuide becomes {attributeType 47}A protocolInformation becomes {attributeType 48}N distinguishedName___________becomes_{attributeType_49}_____________J In pre-V2.0 releases of the Directory Service, these attributesF had the wrong object identifiers, and the V3.1 installationI corrects them for you. If you are upgrading from a more recentH version, then this conversion has already happened and is not repeated.0 WARNINGK If you have a pre-V2.0 installation, and have corrected theseF object identifiers yourself, then do not install V3.1 ofJ the Directory Service. Contact Digital for details of how to upgrade.M You must upgrade all pre-V2.0 components of your Directory ServiceK as soon as possible. This is because changing object identifiersJ causes interworking problems between pre-V2.0 versions and moreI recent versions. If it is not possible to upgrade all pre-V2.03 systems for any reason, contact Digital.I If you have Directory Service components installed on any sys-J tems that run the ULTRIX[TM] operating system, contact Digital.J The last version of the Directory Service to support the ULTRIXD operating system was V1.3, so there is no upgrade option.L Do not use old schema files instead of the newly installed files,H as old schema files contain the incorrect object identifiers,J as well as lacking some new definitions. If you have customizedJ the schema, you need to edit your customizations into the newlyI installed schema files. Your old schema files are saved during installation." Configuration TutorialsJ Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 of Digital X.500 Directory Service Man-I agement provide configuration tutorials.
