Check Out (Reserve) Command

To reserve a file in a CMS library

1. In Explorer [Filesystems], select one or more mounted files that have been added to a CMS library, then right-click the selection and choose CMS from the context menu.
   (A file that is in the source library and is not reserved is indicated by a file status caption of [Up-to-Date] or [Locally Modified].)
2. From the CMS menu, select Check Out (Reserve).
3. Choose from the following check-out options:

   CMS generation (optional)
   Leave this field blank unless you want to reserve an earlier generation or a variant generation rather than the latest main-line version.

   Retrieve a local copy of the file(s) from CMS?
   By default, the file in the CMS library replaces any local copy of the file in the NetBeans Explorer. You should unselect this check box only if you want to use the file already on your local filesystem rather than the one in the CMS library.

   Prompt for Input on Each Successive File
   Select this option if you want to add different remarks or select different options when checking out multiple files.

   

4. Click OK
   A notification message appears (unless you previously selected Do not show) with the result.

Note When you select a form node , you are actually reserving two files in the source control library: the .form file and a corresponding .java file.

In the Explorer, the file status is updated to show a [Reserved; <n>] status (where <n> is the generation number of the file).
