A minimum configuration requires: 2 DECdesign, Version 1.1 SSA 29.29.01-A Installation: 14,500 blocks (7.4M bytes) Permanent: 13,200 blocks (6.8M bytes) A maximum configuration requires: Installation: 80,637 blocks (41.3M bytes) Permanent: 79,700 blocks (40.8M bytes) Note: Creating and using one DECdesign library will add 16,500 blocks to the maximum configuration for a total of 96,200 blocks. These counts refer to the disk space required on the system disk. The sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's system environment, configuration, and software options. Some files from the maximum configuration may optionally be placed on an alternate disk if one is available, reducing the disk space required on the system disk both during and after installation. Refer to the DECdesign Installation Guide for details on the block requirements of specific configurations. Memory Requirements for DECwindows Support: The minimum supported memory for this application running in a standalone DECwindows environment with both the client and server executing on that same system is 16 MB. However, the use of this software in conjunction with increased memory capability improves performance. 3 DECdesign, Version 1.1 SSA 29.29.01-A OPTIONAL HARDWARE Hardcopy reports of the information from DECdesign model database can be printed (after conversion from DDIF to PostScript[R] format) using any Digital PostScript printer, ScriptPrinter (LN03R), PrintServer 20, PrintServer 40, or PrintServer 40 Plus laser printer. CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT This layered product is fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VAXcluster* configuration without restric- tions. The HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS sections of this product's Software Product Description and System Support Addendum detail any special hardware required by this product. * V5.x VAXcluster configurations are fully described in the VAXcluster Software Product Description (29.78.xx) and in- clude CI, Ethernet, and Mixed Interconnect configurations. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS For Workstations Running DECwindows: o VMS Operating System V5.4 (and necessary components of VMS DECwindows) o VAX CDD/Plus V4.3 Note: VAX CDD/Plus is required for the server component of the DECdesign client/server model. This product may run in either of the following ways: o Standalone execution - running the X11 display server and the client application on the same machine. o Remote execution - running the X11 display server and the client application on different machines. 4 DECdesign, Version 1.1 SSA 29.29.01-A VMS DECwindows is part of the VMS Operating System but must be installed separately. Installation of VMS DECwindows gives the user the option to install any or all of the following three components: o VMS DECwindows Compute Server (Base kit; includes runtime support) o VMS DECwindows Device Support o VMS DECwindows Programming Support For standalone execution, the following DECwindows components must be installed on the machine: o VMS DECwindows Compute Server o VMS DECwindows Device Support For remote execution, the following DECwindows components must be installed on the machines: Server and Client Machine o VMS DECwindows Compute Server o VMS DECwindows Device Support VMS Tailoring For VMS V5.x systems, the following VMS classes are required for full functionality of this layered product: o VMS Required Saveset o Network Support o Programming Support o System Programming Support o Utilities o Secure User's Environment 5 DECdesign, Version 1.1 SSA 29.29.01-A The following DECwindows classes are required for full function- ality of this layered product: o DECwindows Applications Files o DECwindows Device Support Files o 75 Dots Per Inch Video Font Files For more information on VMS classes and tailoring, refer to the VMS Operating System Software Product Description (SPD 25.01.xx). OPTIONAL SOFTWARE DECwrite V1.1 GROWTH CONSIDERATIONS The minimum hardware/software requirements for any future ver- sion of this product may be different from the requirements for the current version. DISTRIBUTION MEDIA 9-track 1600 BPI Magtape (PE), TK50 Streaming Tape This product is also available as part of the VMS Consolidated Software Distribution on CDROM. ORDERING INFORMATION Note: DECdesign is now offered in modules. Each module requires a PAK that must be installed. Each order must include licenses for the DECdesign platform and from 1-3 of the distinct tech- niques offered. The previous offering of DECdesign consisted of the DECdesign platform, one Yourdon technique, and one Gane & Sarson Technique in a single license and documentation set. 6 DECdesign, Version 1.1 SSA 29.29.01-A The software media kit contains consolidated binaries for the platform and all of the techniques. However, this kit now con- tains only platform documentation. The individual licenses and documentation kit(s) for the technique(s) ordered must be pur- chased separately.
