Its command-line interface is supported on any VT1xx, VT2xx, or VT3xx terminal, or any output device running a Digital supplied and supported emulator for the above. 2 ALL-IN-1 MAIL, Version 1.0 SSA 31.51.00-A ALL-IN-1 MAIL for VMS DECwindows The software for ALL-IN-1 MAIL for VMS DECwindows is packaged with the ALL-IN-1 MAIL Server and runs on all the same supported processors as the Server. Use of the interface requires one of the following workstations, or a valid X11 display device supported by Digital. VAXstationVAXstation II, VAXstation 2000, VAXstation 3100 Series, VAXstation 3200, VAXstation 3500, VAXstation 3520, VAXstation 3540 The client software must run within the same VAXcluster as the server software. When the product is used remotely by an X11 display device, the interface quality depends on the screen size, resolution and aspect of the X11 display server device. 3 ALL-IN-1 MAIL, Version 1.0 SSA 31.51.00-A Block Space Requirements for VMS Components (Block Cluster Size = 1) ________________________________________________________________ During After, In- on After, stal- system on work Component_____lation____disk______disk__________________________ All compo- 30,000[1] 8,550 18,200 nents Server 22,200 3,500 17,500 components DECwindows 3,000 3,000 700[2] Client VT Inter- 1,700 1,700 700[2] face DOS Client 350 350 700[2] Support ________________________________________________________________ [1]Includes installation overhead. [2]Library_common_to_all_interfaces,_installed_once_____________ The sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's system environment, configuration, and software options. The user space required on the server is determined by the amount of mail the user wishes to file. 4 ALL-IN-1 MAIL, Version 1.0 SSA 31.51.00-A Memory Requirements for DECwindows Support The minimum supported memory for this application running in a standalone DECwindows environment with both the client and server executing on that same system is 8MB. The performance and memory usage of DECwindows applications are particularly sensitive to system configuration. Less memory may be required on the client system (the system where the software is installed and executed) if the display server (the component that displays the application) resides on another system. More memory may be required on a system with several applications running or to improve the performance of an application. ALL-IN-1 MAIL for DOS Support for 8-bit characters is provided only on EGA and VGA machines. Unless otherwise noted here, the ALL-IN-1 MAIL for DOS component runs on any valid configuration having a minimum of 640 KB of memory which is supported by DECnet PCSA Client for DOS. Refer to the DECnet PCSA Client for DOS Software Product Description (SPD 55.07.xx). 420 KB of free memory is required after loading DECnet PCSA Client for DOS. Two versions of the image are provided; one which uses overlays and can be used on a PC with no expanded or extended memory, and another which uses the DOS-Extender and takes advantage of extended memory. The DOS-Extender version may only be used on PCs that use the Intel 286/386 CPU with 640 KB of conventional memory and 1 MB of extended (not expanded) memory. The DOS- Extender version is not supported on VAXmate. Both versions have the same functionality; the DOS-Extender version will provide better performance. 5 ALL-IN-1 MAIL, Version 1.0 SSA 31.51.00-A ALL-IN-1 MAIL for DOS software can be stored either on the per- sonal computer's local storage device or on the server sys- tem. The maximum disk space required during the installation of all ALL-IN-1 MAIL for DOS software is 2.2 MB on a PC. Once installed, one version of the software occupies 1.15 MB of disk space. Installed as a disk service on the VAX, the software requires 22,528 blocks on a VMS disk. The additional space required on the server is to house both the standard and DOS extender versions. CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT The VMS layered product components of this product are fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VAXcluster * configuration without restrictions. The HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS sections of this product's Software Product Description and System Support Addendum detail any special hardware required by this product. * V5.x VAXcluster configurations are fully described in the VAXcluster Software Product Description (SPD 29.78.xx) and include CI, Ethernet and Mixed Interconnect configurations.
