A            You must first find out how many free global pages and @            sections you have on your system. Then use AUTOGEN ifC            you need to increase the GBLPAGES and GBLSECTIONS system_            parameters.  @            If you are installing the CDA Converter Library on anD            OpenVMS Version 5.2 system, you can use the WRITE command@            with the F$GETSYI lexical function to find the numberB            of free global pages and global sections. The followingE            example shows how to get this information at your terminalr(            (the default for SYS$OUTPUT):  7            $ WRITE SYS$OUTPUT F$GETSYI("FREE_GBLPAGES")             158487            $ WRITE SYS$OUTPUT F$GETSYI("FREE_GBLSECTS")s
            24c  A            If the values displayed by the system are greater thans?            the values in Table 1-3, you do not need to increase @            the values for these parameters. If the value of freeD            global pages or global sections is less than the value inE            Table 1-3, you must increase the system parameter setting.   B            Section 1.3.4.3 describes the procedures for increasing&            these values using AUTOGEN.  :      1.3.4.3 Changing System Parameter Values with AUTOGEN  =            Use the AUTOGEN command procedure to change system ?            parameters. AUTOGEN automatically adjusts values for C            parameters that are associated with the values you reset C            manually. To change system parameters with AUTOGEN, edit_            the following file:  #            SYS$SYSTEM:MODPARAMS.DATn  B            Use an editor to access the file. To change a parameter>            value listed in this file, delete the current valueB            associated with that parameter and enter the new value.  B      1-8 Preparing to Install the CDA Converter Library on OpenVMS    e      H                Preparing to Install the CDA Converter Library on OpenVMSH                                  1.3 Installation Procedure Requirements  A               To add a new parameter, add a line to the file that D               includes both the name of the parameter and its value.               For example:                 WSMAX = 1024  G               Use ADD_GBLPAGES or ADD_GBLSECTIONS to modify incremental H               parameters such as GBLPAGES and GBLSECTIONS. The following@               example increases the global page setting by 2000:  !               ADD_GBLPAGES = 2000r  F                 ________________________Note  ________________________  D                 When you set the page file quota, do not use a valueD                 that exceeds the amount of page file space available                 on the system.  E                 _____________________________________________________[  G               After you make all your changes, exit from the editor andlF               execute the AUTOGEN procedure to recalculate your systemH               parameters. Enter the following command at the DCL prompt:  2               $ @SYS$UPDATE:AUTOGEN GETDATA REBOOT  D               When you specify REBOOT, AUTOGEN performs an automaticD               system shutdown and then reboots the system. Any usersB               logged on to the system are immediately disconnectedD               during the shutdown. The automatic reboot puts the new+               parameter values into effect.1  C               The AUTOGEN Utility automatically adjusts some of theaE               SYSGEN parameters based on the consumption of resourcese?               since the last reboot. Dynamic parameters changed with the SYSGENoA            WRITE ACTIVE command become active immediately without =            any need to reboot your system. In fact, rebooting D            returns dynamic system parameter values to their previous            settings.  ?            Once you change dynamic parameter values, you should A            complete the installation before rebooting the system.
