Processors Not Supported

MicroVAX I, VAXstation I, VAX-11/725, VAX-11/782

For MS-DOS load host support, refer to the Configuration Chart in the
DECnet-DOS Software Product Description, (SPD 50.15.xx), for a list of
supported configurations.

Processor Restrictions

A TK50 Tape Drive is required for standalone MicroVAX 2000 and
VAXstation 2000 systems.

Every load host on which the DECrouter 2000 software is installed must
contain:

oo A valid system configuration for the relevant operating system and
for the appropriate DECnet product (Refer to the DECnet and
      appropriate operating system SPDs).

oo A supported connection on the same LAN as the DECrouter 2000.

oo A appropriate device available to read the software during
      installation:

For VMS and MicroVMS Operating Systems:

oo Magnetic tape or TK50 drive.

For ULTRIX-32 Operating Systems:

oo Magnetic tape or TK50 drive.

For MS-DOS Operating Systems:

oo RX24 or RX31 drive (a minimum of two drives, at least one of which
must be capable of reading 5.25 inch 360 Kbyte diskettes or 3.5
      inch 720 Kbyte diskettes).

Block space requirements (Block Cluster Size = 1):

For VMS and MicroVMS Operating Systems Without TRACE:

Disk space required for installation: 2,100 blocks
							   (1075K bytes)

Disk space required for use (permanent): 7,100 blocks
							   (3635K bytes)

For VMS and MicroVMS Operating Systems With TRACE:

Disk space required for installation: 2,500 blocks
							   (1280K bytes)

Disk space required for use (permanent) 7,500 blocks
							   (3840K bytes)

For ULTRIX-32 Operating Systems:

Disk space required for installation: 2,100 blocks
							   (1075K bytes)

Disk space required for use (permanent): 7,100 blocks
							   (3635K bytes)

For MS-DOS Operating Systems:

Disk space required for installation: 2,100 blocks
							   (1075K bytes)

Disk space required for use (permanent): 7,100 blocks
							   (3635K bytes)

These counts refer to the disk space required on the system disk. The
sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's
system environment, configuration, and software options. The space
indicated for permanent occupancy includes 5000 blocks that should be
reserved to receive one upload dump.

The DECrouter 2000 software requires the DEC MicroServer or DEC
MicroServer-SP hardware unit, available as follows:

oo DEMSA-AA for use with 120 V AC power supplies

oo DEMSA-AB for use with 240 V AC power supplies

oo DEMSB-AA for use with 120 V AC power supplies

oo DEMSB-AB for use with 240 V AC power supplies

The DEC MicroServer and DEC MicroServer-SP have a built-in LAN
controller but need a suitable connection to connect to the customer's
LAN, together with any necessary extension cables.

The DEC MicroServer and DEC MicroServer-SP use adapter cables to provide
the necessary interchange circuits at the appropriate electrical
interface types and ISO standard connections for each synchronous line.
One of these cables is needed for each line that is used. The following
table shows the cable numbers for each of the electrical interface
types.

                             Adapter Cables

Electrical Interface Type Adapter Cable Connector/pinout

    CCITT V.28/V.24 (EIA-RS232-C/D) BS19D-02 ISO 2110
    CCITT V.10 (EIA-RS423/449) BC19E-02 ISO 4902
    CCITT V.36/X.27(V.11, EIA-RS422/449) BC19B-02 ISO 4902
    CCITT V.35 BC19F-02 ISO 2593
    CCITT X.21 {1980} (Leased services) BC19C-02 ISO 4903

The BS19D-02 cable provides the V.28/V.24 (RS232-D) interface, but is
supplied with an adapter that allows it to be used for RS232-C as well.

CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT

VMS and MicroVMS Load Host Only

This layered product is fully supported when installed on any valid and
licensed VAXcluster* configuration without restrictions. The HARDWARE
REQUIREMENTS sections of this product's Software Product Description and
System Support Addendum detail any special hardware required by this
product.

* V5.x VAXcluster configurations are fully described in the
VAXcluster Software Product Description (29.78.xx) and include CI,
      Ethernet and Mixed Interconnect configurations.

Note that the configuration procedure needs to be executed on each node
that is requiree to be a load host.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

The DECrouter 2000 needs at least one DECnet Phase IV node to act as a
load host. That system needs to be a VAX-based system running the
MicroVMS or VMS Operating System.

For each VAX System acting as a load host or dump receiver:

VMS Operating System V4.7 - V5.3 or
MicroVMS Operating System V4.7

DECnet-VAX V4.7 - V5.3

VMS Tailoring

For VMS V5.x systems, the following VMS classes are required for full
functionality of this layered product:

For more information on VMS classes and tailoring, refer to the VMS
Operating System Software Product Description (SPD 25.01.xx).

MicroVMS Tailoring

For MicroVMS V4.x systems, the following components of MicroVMS are
required for full functionality of this product:

Base System

For each ULTRIX-32 System acting as a load host or dump receiver:

ULTRIX-32 Operating System V2.2 - V3.1

DECnet-ULTRIX V2.2 - V3.1

For each MS-DOS System acting as a load host or dump receiver:

MS-DOS Operating System V3.10 - V3.30 or
IBM PC Disk Operating System V3.20 - V3.30 or
COMPAQ MS-DOS V3.30 or
