               1.2 Prerequisite Software

The following software must be installed on your system prior
                  to the DECpage installation:

_ A valid VMS operating system configuration running VMS

                     Version 5.1 or higher

                   _ WPS-PLUS/VMS or ALL-IN-1

See the DECpage Statement of Supported Versions for the
                     versions supported.

If you reinstall or upgrade WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1, you
must rerun the DECpage post-installation procedures. See
                     Chapter 3 for more information.

If you plan to use an LN03 or LN03 PLUS device with DECpage,
you must have one of the Version 1.3 font packages installed.
If you want to use the entire set of DECpage print styles,
you must have the DECpage Complete Office Font Package
installed. The DECpage Basic Office Font Package handles a
subset of the print styles. (See Section 3.17 for information
about upgrading from the Basic to the Complete font package.)
The DECpage installation checks for an LN03 font package. If
this required software is not installed on your system, the
                  installation terminates.

               1.3 Optional Software

This section lists software that can be used together
with DECpage. See the System Software Addendum (SSA) for
a complete list of compatible products and their required
version numbers. The SSA is part of the Software Product
                  Description (SPD).

DECpage Version 3.1 is compatible with the following software
                  products:

                   _ VAX GKS

_ Version 4.0 on PostScript devices

                      _ Version 3.1 on LN03 and LN03 PLUS devices

If you plan to use GKS, it must be installed prior to the
                     DECpage installation.

_ DECpage LN03 Upgrade and Complete Office Font Packages

                     Version 1.3

These fonts are used by the LN03 and LNO3 PLUS laser
printers and are required only if you plan to use the
extended DECpage style set. (The other supported printers
                     do not require additional fonts.)

If you plan to use these font packages, they must be
installed prior to the DECpage installation.

                   _ VAX DECslide Version 1.3

                   _ VAX DECgraph Version 1.5

               1.4 Prerequisite Hardware

You must have a laser printer to run the Installation
Verification Procedure (IVP) and use DECpage. DECpage can
be used with the following laser printers:

                   _ PrintServer 20

                   _ PrintServer 40 Plus

                   _ PrintServer 40

                   _ LN03R ScriptPrinter

_ LN03, with two RAM cartridges

_ LN03 PLUS, with two RAM cartridges

               1.5 License Registration

You must register the DECpage license through the VMS
License Management Facility (LMF) in accordance with
the license agreement signed by your site. The license
registration information you need is contained in the Product
Authorization Key (PAK) that is shipped with DECpage. The
PAK is a paper certificate that contains information about
the license you have purchased to run a particular piece of
                  software.

During the installation, the system asks if you have
registered the DECpage license and loaded the appropriate
authorization key. You must register and load your license
for DECpage before you start the installation in order to run
the Installation Verification Procedure and use the software.

To register a license under VMS, first log in to the system
manager's account, SYSTEM. You can register a license in one
                  of two ways:

_ Invoke the SYS$UPDATE:VMSLICENSE.COM procedure. When it

prompts you for information, respond with data from your
                     PAK.

_ Issue the LICENSE REGISTER command at the DCL prompt, us-

ing the qualifiers that correspond to the PAK information.

If you plan to use DECpage on more than one node in a
VAXcluster, you will need to perform a license load on
the other nodes after you complete this installation. See
Section 3.11 for DECpage installation instructions for
                  VAXclusters.

For complete information on using LMF, see the manual on the
License Management Utility in the VMS documentation set.

               1.6 Determining Saveset Names

To install DECpage, you must know the saveset name of your
kit. You can determine a saveset name by checking the
label of your media. Table 1-2 lists the media labels and
corresponding saveset names of all the DECpage installation
kits, as well as the language of each.

               1.7 Performing an Update Installation

The next two sections describe requirements for update
                  installations.

                  1.7.1 Setting the System Protection

If you are performing an update installation, you must
set the system protection to delete (S:D) on the [DECpage]
                  directory.

                  1.7.2 Saving Information Data Files

If you have modified any of the information data files
listed in Table 1-3, you must save them before upgrading
from Version 3.0 to Version 3.1 of DECpage. (This does not
apply to pre-Version 3.0 releases.) You can find these files
                  as follows:

_ In OA$DATA_LLV if the existing DECpage software was

integrated into ALL-IN-1 Version 2.1 BEV (or LV), or

               1.8 Installing Laser Printers

You must have a laser printer installed before you can
install and use DECpage. There are two groups of printers
that can be used with DECpage:

                   _ The LN03R ScriptPrinter, PrintServer 40, PrintServer 40

                     Plus, and PrintServer 20

You install these printers using the directions in the
                     installation manuals that accompany them.

_ The LN03 PLUS and LN03 (with two RAM cartridges)

Section 1.8.1 describes how to install these printers and
                     set the necessary printer characteristics.

Note Make sure your queue manager has been started before you
                  begin the DECpage installation.

You can install additional printers after DECpage is running
                  without reinstalling DECpage.

                  1.8.1 Installing Non-PostScript Laser Printers

If you are using a non-PostScript laser printer with
DECpage, you must modify the printer characteristics at the
DCL level before installing DECpage. To make the printer
characteristics permanent, you must also make the appropriate
changes in the .COM file used to start your print queues.

Use the following procedure for the new printer characteris-
                  tics to take effect immediately:

1 Stop the printer queue and associated generic queue, if
                     there is one, as follows:

                       $ STOP/QUEUE/NEXT generic-queue
                       $ STOP/QUEUE/NEXT printer-queue[:]

2 Set the printer to NOSPOOLED with the following command:

                       $ SET DEVICE/NOSPOOLED printer-queue[:]

3 Modify the printer characteristics according to the type
of line the printer is attached to, as follows:

_ If your non-PostScript printer is attached to a

                        terminal (DZ) line:

                          $ SET TERMINAL/NOAUTOBAUD/NOBROADCAST -
                          _$ /DEVICE_TYPE=LN03/EIGHT_BIT/FORM/LOWERCASE -
                          _$ /PAGE=63/INTERACTIVE/PASTHRU/SPEED=9600/TTSYNC -
                          _$ /WIDTH=511/NOWRAP terminal-name[:]

_ If your non-PostScript printer is attached to an LP-11

                        line:

                          $ SET PRINTER/CR/FF/LOWERCASE/PAGE=63/PASSALL -
                          _$ /PRINTALL/NOTRUNCATE/UNKNOWN/WIDTH=511 -
                          _$ /NOWRAP printer-name[:]

4 Set the printer queue to SPOOLED and reassociate the
generic queue, if there is one, as follows:

                       $ SET DEVICE/SPOOLED=generic-queue printer-queue[:]

5 Restart the printer queue and associated generic queue, if
                     there is one, as follows:

                       $ START/QUEUE generic-queue
                       $ START/QUEUE printer-queue[:]

               1.9 VAXcluster Configurations

You can install DECpage Version 3.1 software on any of three
                  VAXcluster configuration types:

                     Computer Interconnect-only VAXclusters
                     Local Area VAXclusters
                     Mixed-interconnect VAXclusters

The section that follows describes the types of clusters,
provides installation information specific to each type, and
                  defines the operating environments.

For information about installation procedures for VAXcluster
configurations, see Section 3.11 in this manual, and the
manual on VAXclusters in the VMS documentation set.

                  1.9.1 VAXcluster Configuration Types

You can install DECpage Version 3.1 on the following types of
clusters, using the procedure described in Section 3.11:

_ Computer Interconnect (CI)-only VAXcluster configuration

CI-only clusters use the computer interconnect for
interprocessor communication, with the Star Coupler
as the common connection point for all cluster nodes.
Cluster nodes may be any VAX processors specified in the
VAXcluster Software Product Description, or they may be
                     Hierarchical Storage Controllers (HSCs).

                   _ Local Area VAXcluster configurations

Local area clusters consist of a boot server (a VAX or
MicroVAX containing all the disks from which DECpage is
run) connected by Ethernet to a number of satellite nodes.
A satellite node is usually a MicroVAX.

With local area clusters, install DECpage on the boot
server only, using the pre-installation and installation
procedures described in Chapters 1 and 2.

Do not install DECpage on the satellite nodes. Satellite
nodes, which are used by the individual work groups only,
use the boot server to access DECpage. You must, however,
check the VMS system parameters for each node on which
you are going to run DECpage. See Section 1.10.4 for
                     information on VMS system parameters.

                   _ Mixed-interconnect VAXcluster configurations

               1-8 Preparing to Install DECpage

Mixed-interconnect clusters became available for the first
time with VMS Version 5.0. A Mixed-interconnect cluster
can include VAX processors, HSCs, and MicroVAX satellite
nodes. The procedure for installing DECpage software on a
Mixed-interconnect VAXcluster system is the same as that
for installing on a Local Area VAXcluster system.

               1.10 Installation Procedure Requirements

The following sections discuss various requirements for
                  installing DECpage.

                  1.10.1 Time

The installation should take approximately 30 to 60
minutes, depending on your type of media and your system
configuration. This does not include time needed for post-
                  installation procedures.

For example, installing DECpage on a standalone VAX 11/780
system takes from 40 to 60 minutes, and the Installation
Verification Procedure (IVP) takes about 10 minutes. Multiple
IVPs will take about 10 minutes per printer selected.

                  1.10.2 Privileges

Install DECpage from the system manager's account, with full
                  privileges.

Note that the VMS installation procedure (VMSINSTAL) turns
off the BYPASS privilege at the start of the installation. If
you are performing an update installation, be sure to set the
system protection to delete (S:D) on the DECpage directory.

                  1.10.3 Disk Space

Installing DECpage requires a certain amount of free disk
storage space during the installation. Once DECpage is
installed, less disk space is required.

You can install DECpage on the system disk or on an alternate
disk. Table 1-4 gives the disk space requirements if you are
installing DECpage on the system disk. Table 1-5 gives the
disk space requirements if you are installing DECpage on an
                  alternate disk.

                  1.10.4 System Parameters

                  The following sections describe:

_ The system parameter value required for the installation

_ How to check system parameter values

_ How to calculate values for the GBLPAGES system parameter

_ How to change the GBLPAGES value, using the VMS AUTOGEN

                     command procedure

The Global Pages (GBLPAGES) value is the only value in the
system parameter file that you need to check.

Table 1-6 lists the minimum required system parameter value
for the installation. The table lists only the nonstandard
parameter setting. SYSGEN default values are adequate for
those settings not listed. Depending on the kinds of programs
and applications running at your site, you might need a
                  higher value for this setting.

Note If your system's current SYSGEN parameter is set at a
higher value than the one listed in Table 1-6, do not reduce
                  that value.

[1]The value listed represents the number of free global
pages required for the installation, not the total number you
need to run your system and other software.
                  _____________________________________________________________

1.10.4.1 Checking System Parameter Values To check
the values of your system parameters, invoke the System
Generation Utility (SYSGEN) by entering the following command
                  at the DCL prompt:

                    $ RUN SYS$SYSTEM:SYSGEN
                    SYSGEN>

At the SYSGEN> prompt, enter the SHOW command to display the
value of a system parameter. The value displayed should equal
or exceed the value of the parameter listed in Table 1-6.
The following example shows the use of the SHOW command for
obtaining information for the GBLPAGES system parameter:

                    SYSGEN> SHOW GBLPAGES

After you finish checking the GBLPAGES parameter with the
SHOW command, enter the EXIT command at the SYSGEN> prompt to
                  return to DCL level.

1.10.4.2 Calculating the Value for GBLPAGES To install
and run DECpage, you must have sufficient free global pages.
First, you must find out how many free global pages you have
on your system. Then use AUTOGEN if you need to increase the
                  GBLPAGES system parameter.

The n + 950 value for GBLPAGES in Table 1-6 indicates that
you must have at least 5000 unused global pages available on
your system for the installation to process successfully.

                                             Preparing to Install DECpage 1-11

If you are installing DECpage on a VMS Version 5.1 system,
perform the following steps to calculate how many unused
                  global pages your system has:

1 Run the VMS Install Utility (INSTALL) using the following
                     DCL command:

                       $ INSTALL LIST/GLOBAL/SUMMARY

The Install Utility displays a summary of global pages
and global sections used by your system, as well as the
current number of unused global pages. For example:

Summary of Local Memory Global Sections

158 Global Sections Used, 9744/365 Global Pages Used/Unused

2 Determine if the number of unused pages (365 in the
example) is equal to or greater than 950, the number
                     required by DECpage.

If you are installing DECpage on a VMS Version 5.2 or higher
system, you can use the WRITE command with the F$GETSYI
lexical function to find the number of free global pages.
The following example shows how to get this information at
your terminal (the default for SYS$OUTPUT):

                    $ WRITE SYS$OUTPUT F$GETSYI("FREE_GBLPAGES")
                    365

If the number of unused pages is less than the required
number, you need to increase the value for GBLPAGES. For
example, using the 365 figure from the examples, you would
need to increase GBLPAGES by 585. The process used to
                  calculate that value is:

                             9744 Used Global Pages
                          + 365 Unused Global Pages
                          -------
                            10109 Current Value of GBLPAGES

                    And:
                             950 Required GBLPAGES for DECpage
                          - 365 Unused Global Pages
                          ------
                             585 Remainder

                    Then:

                           10109 Current Value of GBLPAGES

                          ------
                           10694 New required GBLPAGES value

Section 1.10.4.3 describes the procedure for increasing
system parameter values using AUTOGEN. See the Extended VMS
System Management documentation subkit for information on
                  using AUTOGEN.

1.10.4.3 Changing System Parameter Values with AUTOGEN
You use the AUTOGEN command procedure to change system
parameters. You can add new parameters and modify incremental
parameters. AUTOGEN automatically adjusts values for other
system parameters that are associated with the values you
                  reset manually.

To change the GBLPAGES parameter with AUTOGEN:

                   1 Edit the following file:

                       SYS$SYSTEM:MODPARAMS.DAT

2 Modify the incremental parameter for GBLPAGES by using
ADD_. For example, add the following line to increase the
                     value by 585:

                       ADD_GBLPAGES = 585

                   3 Exit from the editor.

4 Run the AUTOGEN procedure to recalculate the system
parameters by entering the following command at the DCL
                     prompt:

                       $ @SYS$UPDATE:AUTOGEN GETDATA REBOOT

Specifying REBOOT causes AUTOGEN to perform an automatic
shutdown and then reboot the system when it has finished.
Any users logged on to the system are immediately
disconnected during the shutdown. The automatic reboot
puts any new parameter values into effect.

The Autogen Utility automatically adjusts some of the
SYSGEN parameters based on the consumption of resources
since the last reboot. If you do not want to take
advantage of this automatic adjustment, include the
/NOFEEDBACK qualifier on the AUTOGEN command line.

For more information about using AUTOGEN, see the Extended
                  VMS System Management documentation subkit.

                  1.10.5 Process Account Quotas

The account you use to install DECpage must have sufficient
quotas to enable you to perform the installation. Table 1-7
summarizes the process quotas DECpage requires for the
                  installation account.

Table 1-7 Process Account Quotas for the Installing
                               Account

                  WSEXTENT[2] 2048

                  WSQUO[2] 512
                  _____________________________________________________________
[1]Using multiple VMSINSTAL options requires a higher value
                  for BYTLM.

[2]The values for WSEXTENT and WSQUO must be equal to or
                  greater than the WSDEF value.
                  _____________________________________________________________

VMS stores user account quotas in the file SYSUAF.DAT. Use
the VMS Authorize Utility to verify and change user account
                  quotas, as follows:

               1-14 Preparing to Install DECpage

1 Set your directory to SYS$SYSTEM and then run AUTHORIZE by
entering the following commands at the DCL prompt:

                       $ SET DEFAULT SYS$SYSTEM
                       $ RUN AUTHORIZE
                       UAF>

2 At the Authorize Utility prompt (UAF>), use the SHOW
command with an account name to check a particular
                     account. For example:

                       UAF> SHOW SMITH

3 To change a quota, use the MODIFY command at the UAF>
prompt. MODIFY has the following format:

                        MODIFY account-name /quota-name=nnn

The following example changes the FILLM quota for the
                     SMITH account:

                       UAF> MODIFY SMITH /FILLM=50

4 Exit from the Authorize Utility when you have finished
                     verifying user account quotas:

                       UAF> EXIT

After you exit from the utility, the VMS system displays
messages indicating whether or not changes were made. After
you make the changes, you must log out and log in again to
                  enable the new quotas.

For more information on modifying account quotas, see the
description of the Authorize Utility in the Extended VMS
                  System Management documentation subkit.

                  1.10.6 VMSINSTAL Requirements

Before you invoke VMSINSTAL, you should complete the
                  following steps:

1 Log in to a privileged account

2 Set your default device and directory to SYS$UPDATE

3 Ensure the system has adequate quotas for installation

                                             Preparing to Install DECpage 1-15

When you invoke VMSINSTAL, the procedure first checks to
be sure you meet these requirements and then displays the
                  following information:

_ Whether DECnet is up and running on the system (VMS

                     Version 5.1 only)

_ Which, if any, users are logged in to the system

It is not necessary to shut down DECnet. However, inform WPS-
PLUS or ALL-IN-1 users that they are to log off while DECpage
                  is being installed.

Note that VMSINSTAL requires that the installation account
have a minimum of the following quotas:

                     ASTLM = 24
                     BIOLM = 18
                     BYTLM = 18,000
                     DIOLM = 18
                     ENQLM = 30
                     FILLM = 20

If VMSINSTAL detects any problems during the installation,
it notifies you and asks if you want to continue the
installation. In some instances, you can enter YES to
continue. To stop the installation process and correct
the situation, enter NO and press RETURN. Then correct the
                  problem and restart the installation.

1.10.7 Backing Up Your System Disk

At the beginning of the installation, VMSINSTAL asks if you
have backed up your system disk. Digital recommends that you
do a system disk backup before installing any software.

Use the backup procedures that are established at your site.
For details on performing a system disk backup, see the
section on the Backup Utility in the Extended VMS System
                  Management documentation subkit.

This chapter describes how to install DECpage. Section 2.2
contains a step-by-step description of the installation
procedure, based on a U.S. installation.

               2.1 General Information

This section includes general information about accessing the
online release notes, running the Installation Verification
Procedure (IVP), and aborting the installation.

2.1.1 Accessing the Online Release Notes

DECpage provides online release notes. You must specify
OPTIONS N when you invoke VMSINSTAL to access the release
notes. VMSINSTAL provides a list of options near the
beginning of the installation that lets you decide how to
review the release notes during the installation.

You should review the release notes in case they contain
any information about changes in the installation procedure.
If you are restarting the installation procedure and you
have already reviewed the release notes, you do not need to
                  specify OPTIONS N.

After you install DECpage, your system stores the release
                  notes in the following file:

                    SYS$HELP:saveset-name.RELEASE_NOTES

For the saveset-name of your kit, see Table 1-2.

2.1.2 Running the Installation Verification Procedure

The Installation Verification Procedure (IVP) for DECpage
verifies the installation. When you install DECpage, the
VMSINSTAL procedure asks you if you want to run the IVP as
part of the installation. If you respond YES, VMSINSTAL runs
the IVP. It is recommended that you run the IVP to make sure
                  that DECpage is installed correctly.

After you install DECpage, you can run the IVP independently
to verify that the software is available on your system. You
might need to run the IVP after a system failure to be sure
                  that users can access DECpage.

If you run the IVP during the installation, the IVP prints
a representative sample of the DECpage styles. If you run
the IVP separately as a post-installation procedure, you can
select this brief IVP or an IVP that takes much longer and
prints the complete set of DECpage styles, as shown in the
DECpage Style Samples manual. See Chapter 3 for information
                  about running the IVP separately.

                  2.1.3 Aborting the Installation

You can stop the installation procedure at any time by
pressing CTRL/Y. You can then restart the installation. When
you press CTRL/Y, the installation procedure exits. You might
see warning messages that some directories already exist when
                  you restart the installation.

               2.2 The Installation Procedure

The DECpage installation procedure consists of a series of
questions and informational messages. See Appendix A for a
                  sample installation.

                  2.2.1 Invoking VMSINSTAL

To start the installation, invoke the VMSINSTAL command
procedure from a privileged account, such as the SYSTEM
account. VMSINSTAL is in the SYS$UPDATE directory. Use the
                  following syntax to invoke VMSINSTAL:

                     @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL saveset-name device-name OPTIONS N

               2-2 Installing DECpage

                  saveset-name
The installation name for the component. For example, PAGE031
is the saveset name for the U.S. kit. See Table 1-2 for the
saveset names of all the DECpage kits.

                  device-name
The name of the device on which you plan to mount the media.
For example, MTA0: is the device name for a tape drive. It is
not necessary to use the console drive for this installation.
However, if you do use the console drive, you should replace
any media you remove once you complete the installation.

                  OPTIONS N
An optional parameter that gives you the option of accessing
the release notes during the installation. If you do not
include the OPTIONS N parameter, VMSINSTAL does not ask you
about the release notes. You should always review the release
notes before you proceed with the installation in case they
contain new information about the installation.

Note that there are several other options you can select
when you invoke VMSINSTAL. See the VMS documentation on
software installation in the Extended VMS System Management
documentation subkit for information on these options.

The following example displays the command you use to invoke
VMSINSTAL to install DECpage from tape drive MTA0: and shows
the system response. This example uses the OPTIONS N release
                  note parameter.

                    $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL PAGE031 MTA0: OPTIONS N

VAX/VMS Software Product Installation Procedure V5.2

                    It is 17-JAN-1990 at 09:00.
Enter a question mark (?) at any time for help.

If you do not supply either the product name or the device
name, VMSINSTAL prompts you for this information later in
the installation procedure. Because VMSINSTAL does not prompt
for options, be sure to include OPTIONS N on the VMSINSTAL
command line if you want to access the release notes during
                  the installation.

                                                        Installing DECpage 2-3

                  2.2.2 Answering Installation Questions

This section describes the questions that appear during
the installation. Appendix A contains a sample installation
procedure showing how the questions can be answered.

VMSINSTAL marks each question in the installation with an
asterisk (*) at the beginning of the line. Some questions
show the default response in brackets, for example [YES]. To
use the default response, press the RETURN key.

The following list outlines the questions in the installation
                  procedure:

                   1 DECnet status

VMSINSTAL notifies you if DECnet is running and displays
a list of all active processes. It then asks if you want
to continue the installation. You can install DECpage with
DECnet up and running. NO is the default response to the
                     question.

%VMSINSTAL-W-DECNET, Your DECnet network is up and running.
                          .
                          .
                          .
                       * Do you want to continue anyway [NO]?

If you are installing on VMS Version 5.2 or higher,
VMSINSTAL does not check the DECnet status. You can
install DECpage while DECnet is up and running.

                   2 System backup

VMSINSTAL asks if you are satisfied with your system
backup. You should always back up your system disk before
performing an installation. If you are satisfied with the
backup of your system disk, press RETURN. Otherwise, enter
NO to discontinue the installation. After you back up your
system disk, you can restart the installation.

                       * Are you satisfied with the backup of your system disk [YES]?

                   3 Mounting the media

You should now mount the distribution volume on the device
you specified when you invoked VMSINSTAL. The device name
appears in the line preceding the question. VMSINSTAL
then asks you if you are ready to continue with the
                     installation.

               2-4 Installing DECpage

If you respond YES to indicate that you are ready,
VMSINSTAL displays a message indicating that the media
containing DECpage is mounted on the specified device and
that the installation has begun. For example:

Please mount the first volume of the set on MTA0:.
                       * Are you ready? YES
                       %MOUNT-I-MOUNTED, PAGE MOUNTED ON _$$MTA0: (NODE 1)
The following products will be processed:
                         PAGE V3.1

Beginning installation of PAGE V3.1 at 09:01

                       %VMSINSTAL-I-RESTORE, Restoring product saveset A...

If you entered the wrong device name when you invoked
VMSINSTAL and you need to restart the installation, enter
NO in response to the "Are you ready?" question. To abort
the installation for other reasons, press CTRL/Y.

                   4 Release notes

If you specified OPTIONS N when you invoked VMSINSTAL,
you are now asked to choose an option for reviewing the
release notes. Under VMS Version 5.1, there are five
release notes options. Under VMS Version 5.2 or higher,
                     there are only four options.

For VMS Version 5.1, the following options are displayed:

                       Release Notes Options:

                        1. Display release notes
                        2. Print release notes
                        3. Both 1 and 2
                        4. Copy release notes to SYS$HELP
                        5. Do not display, print or copy release notes

                       * Select option [2]:

For VMS Version 5.2 or higher, the following options are
                     displayed:

                                                        Installing DECpage 2-5

Release notes included with this kit are always copied to SYS$HELP.

                       Additional Release Notes Options:

                        1. Display release notes
                        2. Print release notes
                        3. Both 1 and 2
                        4. None of the above

                       * Select option [2]:

The following list explains the release notes options:

                      _ Display the release notes.

Select option 1 to display the release notes. VMSINSTAL
displays the release notes immediately on the console
terminal. You can terminate the display at any time by
                        pressing CTRL/C.

                      _ Print the release notes.

Select option 2 to print the release notes. VMSINSTAL
prompts you for the name of the print queue to use:

                          * Queue name [SYS$PRINT]:

Press RETURN to send the file to the default output
print device, or enter another queue name.

_ Display and print the release notes.

Select option 3 to display and print the release notes.
VMSINSTAL displays the release notes immediately on the
console terminal and then prompts you for a queue name
                        for the printed version.

_ Copy the release notes to the help directory.

Under VMS Version 5.1, select option 4 to copy the
release notes to SYS$HELP, the system help directory.
Even if you do not select option 4, the release notes
for DECpage are copied to the SYS$HELP directory.

Under VMS Version 5.2 or higher, the release notes are
                        always copied to SYS$HELP.

                      _ Take no action.

Select option 4 (VMS Version 5.2 or higher) or option
5 (VMS Version 5.1) if you have already reviewed the
release notes and are restarting the installation.

               2-6 Installing DECpage

For a typical installation, you should select option 2,
                     the default option.

                   5 Continuing the installation

The installation procedure now asks if you want to
continue the installation. To continue, enter YES.
                     Otherwise, press RETURN.

In either case, the release notes are copied to a file in
                     the SYS$HELP directory. For example:

                       * Do you want to continue the installation [N]?: YES
%VMSINSTAL-I-RELMOVED, The product's release notes have been
                          successfully moved to SYS$HELP.

VMSINSTAL copies the release notes for the American kit to
                     the following file:

                       SYS$HELP:PAGE031.RELEASE_NOTES

Note The name of the release notes file installed by
VMSINSTAL consists of the current saveset name and version
number. Do not delete the release notes for previous
                     versions of DECpage.

After you enter YES to continue the installation, two
copyright notices are displayed. At the end of their
display, you are asked to press any key to continue the
installation. For example, you can press RETURN.

                   6 Continuing the installation

The installation procedure then displays the media label
of the kit that is being installed. For example:

This is the DECpage V3.1 installation kit.

The installation procedure asks if you want to continue
the installation. Check to make sure you are installing
the correct DECpage kit. (See Table 1-2 for the media
labels of all the DECpage kits.)

If you are installing the correct kit, press RETURN to
continue. If the kit is not correct, enter NO, and the
                     installation procedure terminates.

                   7 Checking license registration

                                                        Installing DECpage 2-7

The installation procedure displays license information
about your product and then asks if you have registered
and loaded your authorization key for DECpage. For
                     example:

                       Product: DECPAGE
                       Producer: DEC
                       Version: 3.1
                       Release Date: 15-JAN-1990

                       * Does this product have an authorization key registered and loaded?

If you have not registered and loaded your authorization
key, you must answer NO to this question. You have to
register and load your product authorization key to
successfully complete the installation. If you have not
done so, you should stop the installation, register and
load your product authorization key, and then restart the
                     installation.

8 Verifying the prerequisite software and hardware

The installation procedure lists the following software
                     and hardware requirements:

DECpage requires that the following be present on your
                       system BEFORE installation:

                               VAX/VMS Version 5.1 or higher

WPS-PLUS/VMS Version 3.0 or higher, or
                               any language variant, or
ALL-IN-1 Version 2.3 or higher, or
                               any language variant

LN03 Office Fonts (If you have an LN03 or LN03 PLUS)

You must also have one of the following laser printers:

                               LPS20 (PrintServer 20)
                               LPS40 Plus (PrintServer 40 Plus)
                               LPS40 (PrintServer 40)
                               LN03R (ScriptPrinter)
LN03 PLUS (with two RAM cartridges)
                               LN03 (with two RAM cartridges)

Do you wish to continue [YES]?

If you have the necessary software and hardware, press
RETURN for the installation to continue. If you do not,
enter NO; the installation procedure terminates.

9 Specifying one or more laser printers

The installation procedure now asks you to specify which
types of laser printers are available on your system. For
                     example:

                       * Do you have an LN03 (LN03 PLUS) graphics printer [YES]?

Specify the appropriate printer or printers. You can
select one or more than one.

Note If you select a printer that requires prerequisite
installation of Office Fonts, such as an LN03, and the
Office Fonts are not installed, the installation fails.

10Choosing to run the Installation Verification Procedure
                     (IVP)

Each time you select a printer, VMSINSTAL asks if you want
to run the IVP on the selected printer:

                       * Do you wish to run the IVP on this printer [NO]?

If you enter YES, the installation procedure asks for the
                     queue name. For example:

                       * What is the LN03 queue name:

The IVP for DECpage checks to be sure that the installa-
tion is successful. Digital recommends that you run the
                     IVP.

You can choose not to run the IVP during the installation
and run it later. See Chapter 3 for information about
                     running the IVP separately.

                   11Selecting the paper size

After you finish answering the laser printer questions
for all the supported printers, the installation procedure
asks you to select the paper size for your installation:

What paper size will you be using?

                               1) American (8 1/2 x 11)
                               2) International (A4)
                       *  [1]:

12Choosing to copy the clip art

                                                        Installing DECpage 2-9

The installation procedure displays the following message
and asks if you want to copy the graphics provided with
the kit to the clip art directory:

This kit contains a library of Encapsulated PostScript(R)
graphics. Their total size is approximately 3,000 blocks
when they are copied to the DECpage clip art directory.

                       * Do you want these graphics copied to the clip art directory [YES]?

Press RETURN to copy the graphics to the clip art
                     directory. Otherwise, enter NO.

                   13Specifying the installation location

The installation procedure displays the disk space
requirements for DECpage and then asks you where you want
to install DECpage on your system:

                       * Do you want the product files to reside on the system disk [YES]?

Press RETURN to install DECpage on the system disk.
Otherwise, enter NO. If you enter NO, you are prompted
                     to supply a device name.

Note Make sure the device is a disk and that it is mounted.

The installation then asks you to confirm your choice of
                     devices. For example:

                       * Target device is DDCU:. Is this correct [YES]?

If you answer NO to this question, you are prompted for a
                     different device.

                   14Choosing to purge files

You have the option to purge files from previous versions
of DECpage that are superseded by this installation.
Purging is recommended; however, if you need to keep files
from the previous version, enter NO in response to the
                     question.

                       * Do you want to purge files replaced by this installation [YES]?

                  2.2.3 Checking Informational Messages

At this point, there are no further questions. The installa-
tion procedure displays a number of informational messages
that report on the progress of the installation.

If the installation procedure has been successful up to this
point, VMSINSTAL moves the new or modified files to their
target directories, updates help files, and updates DCL
tables, if necessary. If you chose to have files purged, that
work is done now. VMSINSTAL displays the following messages:

                    %VMSINSTAL-I-RESTORE, Restoring product saveset B...
                    %VMSINSTAL-I-RESTORE, Restoring product saveset C...
                       .
                       .
                       .
%VMSINSTAL-I-MOVEFILES, files will now be moved to their target
                                                       directories...
                       .
                       .
                       .

2.2.4 Running the Installation Verification Procedure

If you chose to run the IVP, VMSINSTAL runs it now. The IVP
tests the software by printing representative samples from
the DECpage Style Samples on the printer you selected. This
process takes approximately 15 minutes on a VAX 11/785.

When the IVP runs successfully, you see the following
                  message:

DECpage Version 3.1 IVP completed successfully!

                         >>>>> DECPAGE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED <<<<<

                  2.2.5 Completing the Installation Procedure

Before indicating that the installation is complete, the
                  installation procedure displays important post-installation
information about modifying the system startup command
procedure and installing DECpage forms to integrate DECpage
                  into WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1.

The following messages then indicate that the entire
                  installation procedure is complete:

                                                       Installing DECpage 2-11

Installation of PAGE V3.1 completed at 11:13

                       VMSINSTAL procedure done at 11:14

You can now log out of the privileged account:

                    $ LOGOUT
SYSTEM logged out at 17-JAN-1990 11:15:00.00

Note that VMSINSTAL deletes or changes entries in the process
symbol tables during the installation. Therefore, if you are
going to continue using the system manager's account and you
want to restore these symbols, you should log out and log in
                  again.

               2.3 Error Recovery

If errors occur during the installation procedure or when the
IVP is running, VMSINSTAL displays failure messages. If the
installation fails, you see the following message:

%VMSINSTAL-E-INSFAIL, The installation of PAGE V3.1 has failed.

If the IVP fails, you see these messages:

The PAGE V3.1 Installation Verification Procedure failed.

%VMSINSTAL-E-IVPFAIL, The IVP for PAGE V3.1 has failed.

Errors can occur during the installation if any of the
                  following conditions exist:

_ The operating system version is incorrect.

_ A prerequisite software version is incorrect.

_ Quotas necessary for successful installation are

                     insufficient.

                   _ Disk space is insufficient.

_ System parameter values for successful installation are

                     insufficient.

_ The VMS help library is currently in use.

_ The product license has not been registered and loaded.

For descriptions of the error messages generated by these
conditions, see the VMS documentation on system messages,
recovery procedures, and VMS software installation. If you
are notified that any of these conditions exist, you should
take the appropriate action as described in the message.

                                                       After Installing DECpage

After installing DECpage, you need to perform the following
                  tasks:

                   _ Replace information data files

                   _ Delete obsolete command procedures

                   _ Integrate DECpage into WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1

                   _ Create a DECpage account on ALL-IN-1

_ Associate DECpage print queues with VMS print queues

_ Associate additional DECpage batch queues with VMS batch

                     queues

_ Create a proxy account and proxy logins for remote

                     printing and batch processing

_ Modify the system startup procedure

                   _ Modify certain style values

                   _ Replace canned styles

This chapter describes how to perform these required
procedures, as well as how to perform the following optional
                  post-installation tasks:

_ Install DECpage on a VAXcluster system

                   _ Install multiple-language versions

                   _ Reinstall DECpage

                                                  After Installing DECpage 3-1

_ Convert LN03 logos to PostScript logos

_ Upgrade the DECpage font package

_ Perform post-installation procedures for VAX GKS graphics

                   _ Change hyphenation exception dictionaries

_ Assist users to modify their LOGIN.COM file for batch mode

and to redefine the DECPAGE$GRAPHIC logical

_ Run the Installation Verification Procedure separately

               3.1 Replacing Information Data Files

If you have performed an update installation from DECpage
Version 3.0, you might have saved some of the following files
prior to the update (see Section 1.7.2):

                     BATCHQ.DAT
                     DEVICELST.DAT
                     TEMPLST.DAT
                     STYLELST.DAT

You must copy these files back to the directory from which
you first copied them. You can check for these files in the
                  following directories:

_ For ALL-IN-1 systems, the directory OA$DATA_language or

                     OA$SITE_DATA_language

                   _ For WPS-PLUS systems, the directory ddcu:[WPSPLUS.DATA_

                     language] or ddcu:[WPSPLUS.SITE_DATA_language]

For language, specify the language of your kit.

Note You must replace these files before integrating DECpage
                  into ALL-IN-1 or WPS-PLUS.

3.2 Deleting Obsolete DECpage Command Procedures

If you have performed an update installation from a previous
version of DECpage, there might be some obsolete command
procedures on your system. Check the following directories:

                   _ On ALL-IN-1 systems, the directory OA$LIB_LLV or OA$SITE_

                     LIB_LLV

                   _ On WPS-PLUS systems, the directory ddcu:[WPSPLUS.LIB_

                     language] or ddcu:[WPSPLUS.SITE_LIB_language]

For language, specify the language of your kit.

               3-2 After Installing DECpage

If you find any of the following files in those directories,
                  you must delete the files:

                     DECPAGEVM.COM
                     DECPMOD.COM
                     DECPR.COM
                     UPDATE_STY.COM

Note You must delete these files before running DECpage.

               3.3 Integrating DECpage into WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1

After installation, you must integrate DECpage into WPS-PLUS
                  or ALL-IN-1, as follows:

1 From the System Manager's account, invoke WPS-PLUS or
                     ALL-IN-1.

2 At the WPS-PLUS Main Menu, or from ALL-IN-1, enter the
                     following command:

                       <VERSION

The system displays the installed version.

3 Enter the command appropriate to the version on which you
                     are layering DECpage, as follows:

                     __________________________________________________________
                     Version_________________Command___________________________

                     WPS-PLUS Version 3.1 <DO START_DECPAGE:ON_WPS_31

                     ALL-IN-1_Version_2.3____<DO_START_DECPAGE:ON_A1_23________

If you have both WPS-PLUS and ALL-IN-1 on your system, you
                     must run both script files.

The script file performs the following:

_ Merges DECpage help to the help library

_ Merges DECpage forms to the form library

_ Copies some DECpage files to WPS-PLUS (ALL-IN-1)

                        subdirectories

_ Compiles an updated form library and .TXL file

_ Reinstalls the updated .TXL file

The script file might generate some error messages:

                                                  After Installing DECpage 3-3

_ If the following error message is displayed, you must

exit from WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1, reenter, and then rerun
                        the script file:

Form SCENT is not in the library

_ If any other warning messages, such as the following,

are displayed, you can ignore them:

                          no such (global) section
                             .
                             .
                             .
No or empty directory . ..

                   4 Exit from WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1.

You are returned to the DCL prompt.

Note that the commands for integrating DECpage into WPS-PLUS
or ALL-IN-1 apply to all DECpage installation kits, including
any language variant of the product.

               3.4 Creating a DECPAGE Account on ALL-IN-1

If DECpage has been integrated into the ALL-IN-1 system, you
must create a separate DECPAGE account to be used by DECpage
for sending users ALL-IN-1 mail containing information about
                  the job status.

Use the following procedure to create a DECPAGE account on an
                  ALL-IN-1 system:

1 From the ALL-IN-1 System Manager's Menu, select the
                     Maintain User Accounts (MUA) option.

The Maintain User Accounts Menu is displayed.

2 Select the Create (C) option.

The Create Options submenu is displayed.

3 Select the Create New User (CU) option.

The Create New User form is displayed.

4 Enter DECPAGE in the Account Name field.

The Create a New Account form is displayed.

               3-4 After Installing DECpage

5 Fill in the fields as shown in the following example:

                          ALL-IN-1 account details:
                        Account name: DECPAGE
                        Account template: MAIN
                        Directory: DISK$:[DPAGE.A1]
                        Form libr:

                          VMS account details:
                        Account name: DPAGE
                        VMS password:    {   password                     }
                        VMS retype:      {   password                     }

                          User details:
                        Surname (last name): DECPAGE
                        Given name (first name): ALL-IN-1
                        Full initials:
                        Full name: ALL-IN-1 DECPAGE

Note Notice that the VMS account name is different from the
                     ALL-IN-1 account name.

This information is batch processed. There is a waiting
period before you are returned to the Maintain User
                     Accounts Menu.

When the job is complete, you receive a VMS message that
                     the account was created.

6 Edit the DECPAGE account. Under the VMS account details,
set the Account name field to blank.

3.5 Associating DECpage Print Queues with VMS Print Queues

You must associate the printers used by DECpage with VMS
queues. A printer can reside on a system other than the
DECpage host system; that is, DECpage gives you remote
printing. (Note that users cannot see the status of their
jobs in a remote queue.) In the Device and Queue Association
described in this section, the Printer Location field
specifies the system on which the remote printer resides.

You need the SYSPRV privilege to perform this procedure.

To associate printers with VMS queues, use the following
                  procedure:

                   1 Invoke WPS-PLUS.

                                                  After Installing DECpage 3-5

2 Invoke the DECpage System Management option, a hidden
                     option, by entering the following:

                       DP SM

3 Select the Device and Queue Association (DQ) option from
                     the DECpage Menu.

DECpage displays the Device and Queue Association form.

4 Enter a name in the Name of Device field that will be easy
for users to remember. This name must be a single word.
                     For example:

                       LASER

Note Names must be unique. If, for example, your site owns
two laser printers, they cannot both be called LASER.

5 DECpage asks whether you want to add, change, copy,
delete, or inquire. Because you are adding a printer name,
                     select the Add (A) option.

                   6 Enter the device type: LN03, LN03 PLUS, LN03R, LPS20,
                     LPS40, or LPS40 Plus.

You can clear this field and enter GOLD L to see a list of
                     default printers.

7 Enter the name of the associated VMS queue. For example:

                       LN03$PRINT:

8 Determine whether or not it is necessary to enter a node
                     name:

_ If the printer is serving a DECpage single-node host

system, or a VAXcluster with DECpage installed on one
of the cluster members, do not specify the name of the
node where the printer resides. The (cluster) software
                        locates it.

_ If the printer is on a remote node that is not part

of the cluster, enter the name of the node where the
                        printer resides.

If this remote node does not have DECpage installed, a
form must be defined on that system for DECpage to use.
The manager of the remote system should include the
following command in a command procedure for execution
                        at system startup:

               3-6 After Installing DECpage

                          $ DEFINE/FORM DECPAGE 1103/STOCK=DEFAULT/NOWRAP/NOTRUNCATE -
                          /LENGTH=63/WIDTH=80/MARGIN=(TOP=0,BOTTOM=0,LEFT=0,RIGHT=0)

See Section 3.7 for the prerequisites for enabling
                        remote printing.

You can follow these same steps to add another entry, or you
                  can exit.

3.6 Associating Additional DECpage Batch Queues with VMS Batch
                    Queues

DECpage establishes two batch queues during installation: DP_
STANDARD and DP_PRIORITY. You can make additional queues
available for DECpage use by using the Batch Queue (BQ)
option on the System Manager Menu.

Note DECpage establishes an interactive process with a queue
name, ATTACHED. You cannot change this name.

You need the SYSPRV privilege to perform the following
                  procedure.

Redefine or add queues as follows:

                   1 Invoke WPS-PLUS.

2 Invoke the DECpage System Management option, a hidden
                     option, by entering the following:

                       DP SM

3 Select the Batch Queue (BQ) option from the System
                     Management Menu.

DECpage displays the Batch Queue Definitions form. The
form has three fields that you are to fill in:

                      _ Queue Name

Specify the name for the DECpage batch queue that the
user is to enter on the DECpage Format and Print form
or Format and Print Selected Pages form. The two queue
names supplied by DECpage are Standard and Priority.

                      _ Batch Queue

Specify the name of the VMS batch queue to be used for
DECpage jobs that corresponds to the name specified in
                        the Queue Name field.

                                                  After Installing DECpage 3-7

For the two batch queues created by the DECpage
installation, those fields are already filled in
with the names DP_STANDARD and DP_PRIORITY. For any
additional VMS batch queue to be used for processing
documents, fill in this field with a batch queue name
                        such as SYS$BATCH.

                      _ Server Node

Leave this field blank if the specified VMS batch queue
is defined on the DECpage single-node host system, or
on any node member of the VAXcluster.

If a remote VMS batch queue is to be used for
processing DECpage documents, fill in the Server
Node field with the name of the remote node where
the specified VMS batch queue resides. For example,
if DECpage jobs are to be processed on the remote node
FARWY on the DP_PRIORITY batch queue, with the name
FAR_PRIORITY associated with the queue, the completed
Batch Queue entry form appears as follows:

                                 Batch Queue Definitions

                              Queue Name: FAR_PRIORITY
                              Batch Queue: DP_PRIORITY
                              Server Node: FARWY

                          Enter information and press RETURN

Similarly, you could use FAR_STANDARD to indicate the
remote batch queue DP_STANDARD on FARWY.

See Section 3.7 for the prerequisites for enabling remote
                  batch processing.

                  3.6.1 Remote DECpage Jobs

When DECpage processing is done remotely, processing for
both printing and previewing is done on the remote node. This
section explains what happens during remote processing. The
explanations assume the remote node name FARWY.

                   _ Printing remote jobs

The DECpage formatted document is printed on the remote
node if you specify any printer serving FARWY in the Print
Device To Use field. If you want to process on a remote
node, but want to print on some printer serving the local

               3-8 After Installing DECpage

node, you can specify the name of any printer serving the
                     local node.

                   _ Previewing remote jobs

At the end of remote processing, the resulting .TMS and
.PRE files are sent back to the local node to let the user
use the R, PPD, or PFD option from the DECpage Preview
                     Menu on the local node.

Note Prior to performing any remote DECpage processing, be sure
that DECpage is installed on the remote node.

3.7 Prerequisites for Remote Printing and Batch Processing

With DECpage Version 3.1, you must explicitly state what
users can have remote access to the server node. To enable
remote printing or remote batch processing, you must perform
the following steps on the remote server node:

1 Create a new VMS account, DECPAGEPROXY, setting your
directory to SYS$SYSTEM and running AUTHORIZE, as follows:

                       $ SET DEFAULT SYS$SYSTEM
                       $ RUN AUTHORIZE
                       UAF> ADD DECPAGEPROXY/PASSWORD=xxxxxx -
                       _UAF> /UIC=[yyy,zzz]/DEVICE=ddcu: -
                       _UAF> /DIRECTORY=[DECPAGEPROXY]/ACCOUNT=PROXY -
                       _UAF> /NETWORK/BATCH

2 Add proxy logins, entering the following command at the
Authorize Utility prompt (UAF>) for each user to whom
you want to grant access. Then exit from the Authorize
                     Utility.

                       UAF> ADD/PROXY node::username DECPAGEPROXY/DEFAULT
                       UAF>

                          .
                          .
                          .

                       UAF> EXIT

3 Create a user directory for the DECPAGEPROXY account by
entering the following command at the DCL prompt:

                                                  After Installing DECpage 3-9

                       $ CREATE/DIRECTORY/OWNER_UIC=[yyy,zzz] -
                       _$ /PROTECTION=W:RWE ddcu:[DECPAGEPROXY]

For more information about proxy logins, see the VMS System
                  Management documentation subkit.

3.8 Modifying the System Startup Procedure

To make sure that DECpage starts properly after a system
reboot, you must add the following line to the system startup
                  procedure, SYS$STARTUP:SYSTARTUP_V5.COM:

                    $ @SYS$STARTUP:DECPAGE_STARTUP.COM

Be sure to place the DECpage startup line after the line that
                  starts the queue manager.

               3.9 Modifying Style Values

If the DECpage installation was an upgrade from Version
2.1 (and not from Version 3.0), some of the style values
must be modified. (See the DECpage Style Designer's Guide
for information about using the User-Designed Styles (UDS)
                  utility to modify styles.)

For all installations, including the U.S., make the following
                  changes for the styles specified:

                   _ All styles

Change the logo width and depth values to 0 inches.

                   _ Letter and Memo styles

Change the width and depth values for top and bottom logos
to 0, instead of 1, unless a customized logo was specified
                     previously.

For all installations except the U.S., make the following
                  changes for the styles specified:

                   _ GEN2 style

Change the body depth value for pages 1 and 2 to 50.6
                     picas, instead of 49.9 picas.

                   _ M4 style

Change the portrait page width to 49.0 picas, instead of
                     49.9 picas.

                   _ RSP1 style

               3-10 After Installing DECpage

Change the landscape page values to the following:

_ 35.1 picas for the page depth

_ 49.0 picas for the page width

_ 3.7 picas for the top crop mark

_ 5.4 picas for the bottom crop mark

                   _ T2 and T4 styles

The relational size of the subscript and superscript
characters might not appear to be correct for certain text
elements (for example, paragraphs and headings). You can
adjust the relational size by making slight modifications
to the point size of the subscripts and superscripts for
the particular text element. The change needed will be
                     minimal.

               3.10 Replacing Canned Styles

If you do not want to retain the modifications made to canned
styles in previous versions of DECpage, you can retrieve the
original DECpage Version 3.1 canned styles, as follows:

1 After the upgrade installation, copy the DECpage
Version 3.1 canned styles directly from the kit to the
DECPAGE$UDS$RESTORE area. Issue the following commands,
based on your type of installation:

                      _ For U.S. installations:

                          $ BACKUP/REPLACE/SELECT=*.RTS device_name:saveset_name.B -
                          _$ /SAVE_SET DECPAGE$UDS$RESTORE:*.RTS
                          $ BACKUP/REPLACE/SELECT=*.RTS device_name:saveset_name.C -
                          _$ /SAVE_SET DECPAGE$UDS$RESTORE:*.RTS

_ For all installations except the U.S.:

                          $ BACKUP/REPLACE/SELECT=*.RTS_A4A5 -
                          _$ device_name:saveset_name.B -
                          _$ /SAVE_SET DECPAGE$UDS$RESTORE:*.RTS
                          $ BACKUP/REPLACE/SELECT=*.RTS_A4A5 -
                          _$ device_name:saveset_name.C -
                          _$ /SAVE_SET DECPAGE$UDS$RESTORE:*.RTS

2 On the UDS Main Menu, select the Restore (R) option.

3 On the Restore Styles submenu, specify ALL at the prompt
for the style name to be restored.

3.11 Installing DECpage on a VAXcluster System

To install DECpage on any type of VAXcluster, you must first
install DECpage on a system disk that is commonly shared
among nodes in the cluster. Then perform the following
procedure. You must perform steps 1, 3, and 4 on all other
                  nodes on the cluster.

1 Run the startup command procedure, as follows:

                       $ @SYS$STARTUP:DECPAGE_STARTUP.COM

Include this command in the system startup file for each
node on the cluster as well, as explained in Section 3.8.

2 Update the DCL tables, as follows:

_ At the DCL prompt, enter the following command:

                          $ INSTALL

_ At the INSTALL> prompt, enter the following:

                          INSTALL> REPLACE SYS$LIBRARY:DCLTABLES.EXE
                          INSTALL> EXIT

3 Load and register your DECpage license under VMS:

_ Log in to the SYSTEM account.

_ Use one of the following two ways to perform the

                        registration:

_ Invoke the SYS$UPDATE:VMSLICENSE.COM procedure. When

prompted for information, respond with data from
                           your Product Authorization Key (PAK).

_ At the DCL prompt, issue the LICENSE REGISTER

command with the appropriate qualifiers that
                           correspond to PAK information.

4 Run the WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 command startup procedure.
For example, to run the WPS-PLUS Version 3.0 startup
command procedure, enter the folowing command:

                       $ @SYS$STARTUP:WPLSTART.COM ddcu:[WPSPLUS.DATA_SHARE]

5 Create additional DECpage print formatter queues.

               3-12 After Installing DECpage

If you have WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 on the system, there is
a template you can use to create additional DECpage print
                     formatter queues.

_ The template for WPS-PLUS is in the command procedure,

                        WPSPLUS$SYSTEM:WPL$FORMATTER_START.COM.

_ The template for ALL-IN-1 is in the command procedure,

                        OA$BUILD:OA$FORMATTER_START.COM.

                     With the template, you can:

_ Create execution queues on specific nodes of the

                        cluster

_ Create and start a cluster-wide generic queue from

which jobs are moved to active execution queues

_ Start execution queues on specific nodes of the

                        cluster

The template creates execution queues on nodes called
                     NODE1, NODE2, and NODE3, and a cluster-wide generic queue
with the queues on NODE1, NODE2, and NODE3 as the target
queues. Next it starts the execution queues on nodes
NODE1 and NODE2 and on the cluster-wide generic queue.
The execution queue on NODE3 is not started, but having
been created, it is available to be started if the NODE1
or NODE2 execution queues are not available.

You can modify the template by adding your own node names
in place of NODE1, NODE2, and NODE3 to the existing
command lines, and by removing the EXIT line located
                     before the template.

3.12 Installing Multiple-Language Versions of DECpage

With international versions of DECpage, you can install
multiple-language variants on the same system. You need a
separate DECpage kit for each language version you plan to
                  install.

Note The American version of DECpage does not support multiple-
                  language installations.

Each DECpage kit contains two language-dependent components:
the user interface (UI) language and the style language. The
DECpage UI language refers to the language of the DECpage
forms, menus, message files, and so on. The DECpage style
language refers to style-generated text, such as the text
"SLIDE" in the transparency styles. The UI language and

                                                 After Installing DECpage 3-13

the style language are the same for each kit. For example,
the German kit contains German forms and German styles; the
French kit contains French forms and French styles.

Multiple-language installations of DECpage can exist in two
                  different environments:

                   1 Single-language WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 environment

In this environment, with only one language variant
of WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 installed, you can install
                     multiple-language variants of DECpage. Multiple-language
installations of DECpage enable users to print documents
using different style languages. (See Section 3.12.3
for information on changing DECpage style languages.)
However, there can be only one DECpage UI language in this
environment. That language is the system default that was
current when DECpage was integrated into its host WPS-PLUS
or ALL-IN-1 system. (See Section 3.12.1 for details about
                     the system default language.)

                   2 Multiple-language WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 environment

In this environment, with several language variants of
WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 installed on the same system, you
can also install multiple-language variants of DECpage.
The number of DECpage style languages is equal to the
number of DECpage kits installed. The number of DECpage UI
languages is equal to the number of WPS-PLUS and/or ALL-
IN-1 variants installed; that is, there can be one DECpage
UI language for each variant of WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1.
Note that it is necessary to change the system default
language to the appropriate value when you integrate
multiple variants of DECpage into multiple host variants
(see Section 3.12.1 for more information).

Table 3-1 lists the commands for determining current language
                  values.

                  3.12.1 Establishing a Multiple-Language Environment

Use the following procedure to establish a multiple-language
                  environment:

1 Install all the desired language versions of WPS-PLUS or
                     ALL-IN-1.

2 Install all the desired language versions of DECpage.

3 Establish the DECpage system default language by entering
the following command at the DCL prompt:

                       $ @SET_DECPAGE:DEFAULT_LANGUAGE language SYSTEM

For language, specify the language to be set as the
default. The language parameter must be the English
word for the language. For example, you must specify
SWEDISH, rather than SVENSKA. The language must be one of
the following 11 languages supported by the installation
                     procedure:

                        ENGLISH
                        DANISH
                        DUTCH
                        FINNISH
                        FRENCH
                        GERMAN
                        ITALIAN
                        NORWEGIAN
                        PORTUGUESE
                        SPANISH

                        SWEDISH

                   4 Invoke WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 using the /LANGUAGE qualifier,
specifying the same language as in step 3.

5 Integrate DECpage into WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1 (see
Section 3.3 for the appropriate command).

Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each DECpage UI language to be
established. Repeat step 3 one final time to establish the
normal system default language for your system.

3.12.2 Resetting the User Default DECpage Language

Users who want to have a default language other than the
system default can add the following line to their LOGIN.COM
                  file:

                    $ @SET_DECPAGE:DEFAULT_LANGUAGE language

The language parameter is the English word for one of the 11
                  supported languages.

3.12.3 Changing the Style Language for Batch Jobs

From within WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1, the user can choose the
style language of DECpage to be used for the next documents
to be formatted. To set the style language to be used, the
                  user must enter the following:

                    <COMMAND SET_DECPAGE:STYLE_LANGUAGE language

The language parameter is the English word for one of the 11
                  supported languages.

               3.13 Reinstalling DECpage

If you make certain changes to your system after installing
DECpage, you might be required to reinstall or reintegrate
                  DECpage.

_ You must reinstall if you move DECpage from one disk to

                     another disk.

_ You do not need to reinstall DECpage if you make any of

                     the following changes:

_ Upgrade the font package from Basic to Complete

                      _ Add logos

                      _ Add printers

               3-16 After Installing DECpage

                      _ Update WPS-PLUS

                      _ Update ALL-IN-1

_ If you update WPS-PLUS or ALL-IN-1, you must reintegrate

                     DECpage.

To reinstall DECpage, follow the installation procedure
described in Chapter 2. To reintegrate DECpage, follow the
                  procedure described in Section 3.3.

3.14 Modifying DECpage Batch Queue Priorities

DECpage processes all jobs in the batch queues DP_STANDARD
and DP_PRIORITY. You can control the impact DECpage has on
your system by adjusting these queues.

Table 3-2 lists the default characteristics for the DECpage
                  batch queues.

Table 3-2 Batch Queue Default Characteristics

                  _____________________________________________________________
                  CharacteristicDP_STANDARD____DP_PRIORITY_____________________

                  Priority 2 4

                  Job_Limit_____2______________2_______________________________

The base priority of the PRIORITY queue corresponds to the
default priority of the user's process. (The priority for
interactive users is usually set to 4 but can be altered with
                  the AUTHORIZE Utility.)

The DECpage Format and Print form lists STANDARD as the
default batch queue when a user submits a job. Unless DECpage
jobs require immediate processing, Digital recommends that
you encourage users to accept this default. DECpage jobs
processed through the default queue will not slow down system
                  response time for interactive users.

If you find that users are selecting the PRIORITY queue
indiscriminately, you can take one of two actions:

1 Lower the PRIORITY queue job limit.

As a first step, lower the job limit to 1 so that only
a single DECpage process competes with interactive
processes. Follow these steps at the DCL level to lower
the job limit (the OPER privilege is required):

                                                 After Installing DECpage 3-17

                       $ STOP/QUEUE/NEXT DP_PRIORITY
                       $ START/QUEUE/BATCH/JOB_LIMIT=1 DP_PRIORITY

2 Set the PRIORITY queue base priority to 3.

If you prefer that DECpage jobs never compete with
interactive processes, you must lower the priority of
the PRIORITY queue. This procedure closely resembles the
steps necessary for lowering the job limit:

                       $ STOP/QUEUE/NEXT DP_PRIORITY
                       $ START/QUEUE/BATCH/BASE_PRIORITY=3 DP_PRIORITY

Lowering the priority might slow down some DECpage jobs.

Note These changes stay in effect only until the next system
reboot. To make them permanent, you must edit the DECPAGE_
STARTUP.COM file in SYS$STARTUP: and change the JOB LIMIT and
                  BASE PRIORITY qualifiers.

3.15 Adding Logos to the System

Read this section if you have purchased any logos for use
                  with DECpage.

DECpage can support up to 35 logos. Before they can be used,
                  you must follow these steps:

1 Copy the file containing the logo to DECPAGE$UTILITY$SHARE,
                     as follows:

                       $ COPY/LOG logo-name.six DECPAGE$UTILITY$SHARE:*

2 Set the default to DECPAGE$UTILITY, as follows:

                       $ SET DEFAULT DECPAGE$UTILITY$SHARE

3 Rename the file, as follows:

                       $ RENAME logo-name.six DPLOGOn002SK00GG0001UZZZZ02F000.SIX

Replace the letter n with a number from 1 to 9 or with a
letter from A to Z. The number or letter must agree with
the logo number or letter assigned by the manufacturer of
the logo. DECpage uses the number, or letter, to refer to
                     the logos.

               3-18 After Installing DECpage

3.16 Converting LN03 Logos to PostScript

To convert LN03 logos to PostScript, use the following
                  procedure:

1 Make sure the logo file to be converted is in the
directory from which the PPRINT command is issued.

                   2 Enter the following command:

                       $ PPRINT/DEVICE=LN03/LOGO=n

                     For n, specify a digit from 1 to 9 or a letter from A to Z
that corresponds to the logo that is to be converted.

The result of the conversion is a file LOGOn.PS, where n
is one of the digits from 1 to 9, or of the letters A to Z,
                  corresponding to the logo converted.

Note If the logo to be converted is empty, an error message
tells you this, and DECpage creates an empty file of zero
                  length.

3.17 Upgrading the DECpage Font Package

To upgrade DECpage from the Basic to the Complete font
                  package, use the following procedure:

1 Install the LN03 Office Upgrade font package according to
the instructions provided with the upgrade.

2 Restore any styles you want to use, using the Restore (R)
option on the UDS Main Menu.

3 Run the DECpage Installation Verification Procedure to
make sure the new fonts were installed successfully, as
                     follows:

                       $ @SYS$TEST:PAGE$IVP_language.COM

For language, specify the language of your kit, according
                     to the following list:

                        DANSK
                        DEUTSCH
                        ENGLISH
                        ESPANOL
                        FINSK
                        FRANCAIS
                        ITALIANO
                        NEDERLANDS

                                                 After Installing DECpage 3-19

                        NORSK
                        PORTUGUES
                        SVENSKA

Note that the DECpage installation kit includes the style
list files and Installation Verification Procedure command
procedure for both the Complete and Basic font packages.

3.18 Making Modifications for VAX GKS Graphics

If VAX GKS is installed, you must modify the command
                  procedure
SYS$STARTUP:SYSTARTUP_V5.COM if you plan to include
GKS graphic files for output with DECpage. To do this,
add the following line after the GKSSTARTUP line in
                  SYS$STARTUP:SYSTARTUP_V5.COM:

                    $ @SYS$MANAGER:DPGESTARTUP.COM

Note DPGESTARTUP.COM must be executed after GKSSTARTUP.COM,
which should be executed after DECPAGE_STARTUP.COM.

               3.19 Changing Hyphenation Exception Dictionaries

There are hyphenation exception dictionaries in the kit for
each language. The file names of the exception dictionary
                  files take the following form:

                    DECPAGE$CUS:language.TXT

Logicals that point to these files are defined in LNM$SYSTEM_
TABLE. For example, in the logical DECPAGE$language_
DICTIONARY, language is one of the following languages:

                     DANISH
                     DUTCH
                     ENGLISH
                     FINNISH
                     FRENCH
                     GERMAN
                     ITALIAN
                     NORWEGIAN
                     PORTUGUESE
                     SPANISH
                     SWEDISH

               3-20 After Installing DECpage

If a word in text is not hyphenated correctly, the user or
system manager can add it to the appropriate dictionary
file. For example, if French text shows the hyphenation
antis-corbutique, you would add anti=scor=bu=ti=que to the
                  dictionary file, DECPAGE$FRENCH_DICTIONARY.

You do not have to add entries to the file alphabetically,
although an alphabetical organization makes the file easier
                  to manage.

               3.20 Modifying the Login File

The following sections describe modifications that users can
                  make to their LOGIN.COM file.

3.20.1 Modifying the Login File for Batch Mode

DECpage works in batch mode. To avoid problems, Digital
recommends that users enter the following line at the top
                  of their LOGIN.COM file:

$ IF F$MODE() .EQS. "BATCH" THEN EXIT

                  3.20.2 Redefining the DECPAGE$GRAPHIC Logical

DECpage creates a logical name called DECPAGE$GRAPHIC during
installation. This logical name equates to SYS$LOGIN. One way
for a user to include a graphic in a DECpage document is to
have the file containing the graphic reside in the default
                  login directory.

If a user wants to store graphics in a different directory,
DECPAGE$GRAPHIC must be changed so that it points to the new
directory. The following command redefines the logical and
should be placed in the user's LOGIN.COM file:

                    $ DEFINE DECPAGE$GRAPHIC device:[directory.subdirectory]

The DECPAGE$GRAPHIC logical can also be redefined to point to
a login subdirectory with the clip art designations, with the
                  following command:

                    $ DEFINE DECPAGE$GRAPHIC device:[directory.subdirectory], -
                    DECPAGE$CLIPART

It is not necessary to store all graphics files in the same
directory. When including a graphic in a WPS-PLUS file, a
user can also include a device or directory when specifying
the name of the graphic file.

                                                 After Installing DECpage 3-21

The definition of DECPAGE$GRAPHIC must be placed in the
LOGIN.COM file where it will never be bypassed. Otherwise,
DECPAGE$GRAPHIC will be defined incorrectly, and DECpage will
be unable to find the graphic files and, as a result, will
be unable to print them. For example, the definition must be
placed before the following login statement:

$ IF F$MODE() .EQS. "BATCH" THEN EXIT

3.21 Running the Installation Verification Procedure Separately

When you run the Installation Verification Procedure (IVP)
separately, you can specify either the long or the brief IVP.
If you specify the default, the long IVP, DECpage prints the
entire set of style samples. It can take over an hour for
the IVP to print these samples. If you specify the brief IVP,
DECpage runs the same IVP that is run during the installation
and prints a representative set of style samples.

To run the default IVP, enter the following command at the
                  DCL prompt:

                    $ @SYS$TEST:PAGE$IVP_language.COM

To run the brief IVP, enter the following command at the DCL
                  prompt:

                    $ @SYS$TEST:PAGE$IVP_language.COM BRIEF

For language, specify the language of your kit, according to
                  the following list:

                     DANSK
                     DEUTSCH
                     ENGLISH
                     ESPANOL
                     FINSK
                     FRANCAIS
                     ITALIANO
                     NEDERLANDS
                     NORSK
                     PORTUGUES
                     SVENSKA

The system prompts you for the printer queue name, device
type, and if applicable, the font package. Then the IVP is
                  printed on the selected printer.

               3.22 Determining and Reporting Problems

If a problem occurs while you are using DECpage, report it
to Digital. Depending on the nature of the problem and the
type of support you have, you can take one of the following
                  actions:

_ Call Digital if your software contract or warranty

agreement entitles you to telephone support.

_ Submit a Software Performance Report (SPR).

_ Fill out and submit a Reader's Comments form if the

problem has to do with the DECpage documentation. There
are Reader's Comments forms at the back of each manual.
Use the form from the manual in which you found the error.
Include the section and page number.

Review the Software Product Description (SPD) and Warranty
Addendum for an explanation of warranty. If a problem occurs
during the warranty period, report the problem as indicated
in the preceding list, or follow alternate instructions
provided by Digital for reporting SPD nonconformance
                  problems.

This appendix contains a sample American installation of
DECpage on VMS Version 5.2. If you are installing on another
VMS version, some screen messages will vary slightly. The
sample was run on a system that had no previous version of
                  DECpage installed.

The sample installation assumes that no users are logged on
to the system and that OPTIONS N is specified to print the
release notes. The Installation Verification Procedure (IVP)
runs at the end of the installation.

Files and Logical Names Installed on Your System

The DECpage installation procedure installs a number of
files on your system and defines several logical names.
Section B.1 lists the files the installation procedure
installs. Section B.2 lists the logical names that are added
to the system logical name table.

               B.1 File Names

Table B-1 lists the names of all files the DECpage instal-
lation procedure installs on your system. The files are
organized by directory. The files listed are from an American
English installation. The file sizes might differ slightly
                  for other language versions.

               B.2 Logical Names

The following is a list of all the logical names the DECpage
installation procedure adds to the system logical name
table. These names are stored in the startup file, DECPAGE_
STARTUP.COM. They are automatically entered into the system
logical name table when the system is rebooted.

                                             Error Messages During Installation

This appendix explains the error messages that can be
generated by DECpage during the installation procedure.

%PAGE-E-BADREQ, You do not have the necessary requirements for
                  DECpage.

Explanation: You answered NO to the prerequisites query.

User Action: Follow the pre-installation procedures (see
Chapter 1), and start the installation again.

%PAGE-E-NOFONTS, You do not have the LN03 fonts.

Explanation: You specified that you have an LN03 or LN03 PLUS
laser printer, but the fonts for the printer are not on the
                  system.

User Action: Install the LN03 fonts, and start the installa-
                  tion again.

%PAGE-E-NOFONTS, You are missing some required LN03 fonts.

Explanation: You specified that you have an LN03 or LN03 PLUS
laser printer, but not all of the minimum necessary fonts are
                  present on the system.

User Action: Install the missing fonts, and start the
                  installation again.

               %PAGE-W-BADDEV, Invalid device.

Explanation: You specified a bad device name for the target
device. The installation procedure asks for the target device
                  again.

User Action: Specify a valid device name for the installation
                  to proceed.

%PAGE-E-NOSPACE, You do not have enough room on the target
                  device.

Explanation: There is insufficient space on the target disk
for DECpage to be installed successfully.

User Action: Start the installation again after verifying
that there is sufficient space on the intended target disk.
See Chapter 1 for the amount of disk space the installation
                  requires.

%PAGE-E-NOFONTS, You do not have any of the required font
                  packages installed.

Explanation: You specified that you have an LN03 or LN03
PLUS laser printer, but there are no font packages for any
                  printers on the system.

User Action: Install the appropriate fonts for the desired
printer, and start the installation again.

%PAGE-E-BADVMS, This kit requires version 5.1 or higher of VMS.

Explanation: The version of VMS on the system is not the
                  minimum Version 5.1.

User Action: Your system must be upgraded to the minimum
version of VMS before you can install DECpage.
