Read Before Installing or Using VAX CDD/Plus Version 4.3

           AV-L780S-TE

Whether you are a new or a continuing VAX CDD/Plus customer,
take some time to read the following information about this
          version of your product.

          Operating System and Version

VAX CDD/Plus Version 4.3 requires VMS Version 5.3 or higher.

          Database System and Version

VAX CDD/Plus Version 4.3 requires VAX Rdb/VMS Version 3.1A or
          higher.

          Installation Information

Version 4.3 is a full development kit, not a patch kit. You need
not install Version 4.3 over an earlier version of VAX CDD/Plus.

Version 4.3 can be installed directly. You need not install all
versions between your currently installed version and Version
          4.3.

Version 4.3 automatically installs Rdb/VMS Version 3.1B on
your system, if your current version is Rdb/VMS Version 3.1
or lower. However, the automatic installation is a restricted,
run-time only version. If you plan to develop databases, Dig-
ital recommends that you install the full VAX Rdb/VMS Version
3.1B development kit before you install VAX CDD/Plus. See the
"Prerequisite and Optional Software" section in the VAX CDD/Plus
          Installation Guide for more information.

The VAX CDD/Plus Installation Guide also discusses the following
          topics:

o Installation kit, prerequisites, and procedures

to see that all items listed are actually in your kit. If
your kit is damaged, or if you find that parts of it are
             missing, call your Digital representative.

If you have ordered media, you will find the media and the
VAX CDD/Plus Installation Guide in this kit. This guide

on a VMS Version 5.3 or higher system.
