                                                           Preparing to Install

This chapter discusses the preparations and requirements
necessary for installing ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 Group
                  Conferencing.

ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is an application that provides
ALL-IN-1 users with a conferencing system for online
                  discussions.

Members of a conference can discuss items of interest by
leaving messages for the other members to access, read, and
reply to, at their own convenience.

ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing provides online Release Notes.
Digital recommends that you print and read the ALL-IN-1
Group Conferencing Release Notes before proceeding with the
                  installation.

Also, for all languages, except English, there is a Read Me
First. You must read this before proceeding.

               1.1 Required Operating System Components

For VMS Version 5.1 and later systems, ALL-IN-1 Group
Conferencing requires that your system is running a full,
                  untailored VMS system.

               1.2 Examining the Distribution Kit

To make sure that you have a complete kit, check the contents
of the kit against the bill of materials.

The software distribution kit consists of one of the
                  following types of media:

                   o 9-track 1600 bits/in magnetic tape

                   o TK50 cartridge

                   o Compact disk (CD)

The kit contains all the files listed in Appendix A.

The CD Consolidated Software Distribution kit also contains
the following online documentation, in ASCII text format:

o ALL-IN-1 Read Me First, if you have a language version
                     other than English

o ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing Installation and Management
                     Guide

o ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing Release Notes

               1.3 Hardware Checklist

Check that you have the following hardware and disk space to
                  do the installation.

1 Check that the ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing distribution
kit is complete and correct, according to the bill of
                     materials included with the kit.

2 Check that you have the disk space required, given in
                     Section 1.8.3.

3 To do the installation, you are recommended to use the
system console or a hardcopy terminal, so that you have a
hardcopy record of the installation. However, you can use
                     a video terminal.

Note If you are installing ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing in a
                  VAXcluster environment, see Chapter 4.

               1.4 Software Checklist

Check that the following software is available on the system:

o VMS Version 5.1 (or higher).

                   o The VMSINSTAL command procedure.

o ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 with the same language installed as
the language of your ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing kit. The
ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 language can be either the default
                     language or an additional language.

o VAX Notes Version 2.0 (or higher).

Note If your users have access to conferences on another
system, that system must be running VAX Notes Version 1.3,
                     or higher.

                  Also, check that:

o Your ALL-IN-1 startup command procedure has been executed
since ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 was installed, or since your
                     system was last
                     rebooted.

o The ALL-IN-1 directory OA$BUILD is available, and contains
all the components used to build ALL-IN-1. These include
the command procedures A1LINK.COM and A1LNKASK.COM.

A1LINK.COM is replaced when ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing
is installed. Therefore, if you have modified A1LINK.COM,
copy it to the OA$SITE_BUILD_SHARE directory before you
                     install ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing.

Check also that OA$BUILD contains the answers file A1LINK.ANS,
specifying the answers you used in the latest installation of
                  ALL-IN-1.

If A1LINK.ANS is not present, make a note of the answers
you used during that installation to link ALL-IN-1 with any
                  optional products.

               1.5 Information Checklist

                  Complete the following information checks.

1 Check that NOTES$SHARE.EXE is installed as known image:

If NOTES$SHARE.EXE is not installed, install it as
                     follows:

                       INSTALL> CREATE SYS$SHARE:NOTES$SHARE /OPEN /SHARED -
                       _INSTALL> /HEADER_RES
                       INSTALL> EXIT

If there is an entry for NOTES$SHARE.EXE, check that the
                     display shows the following information:

                     NOTES$SHARE Open Hdr Shar

If the display does not show this information, change the
way that NOTES$SHARE.EXE is installed as follows:

                       INSTALL> REPLACE SYS$SHARE:NOTES$SHARE /OPEN /SHARED -
                       _INSTALL> /HEADER_RES
                       INSTALL> EXIT

2 Check the location of the ALL-IN-1 library directory,
                     OA$LIB.

               1.6 VMS License Management Facility

The VMS License Management Facility (LMF) is available
with Version 5.1 of the VMS operating system. If you are
installing ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing on a VMS V5.1 (or
higher) system, you must have a valid ALL-IN-1 license
for your ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 system. See the ALL-IN-1
Installation Guide Part 1 Base Installation for details.

               1.7 Installing an Additional Language

You can install additional language versions of ALL-IN-1
Group Conferencing. The installation steps are the same as
those for a full installation, except that you should select
option 2 at STEP 9 (see Chapter 2).

Note You must have the same ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 language
installed on your system as the ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing
                  language to be installed.

               1.8 Installation Procedure Requirements

The following sections discuss various requirements for
                  installing ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing.

               1-4 Preparing to Install

                  1.8.1 Time

The ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing installation procedure takes
between 30 and 60 minutes to complete, depending on your type
of media and your system configuration.

                  1.8.2 Privileges

Install ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing from the VMS system
                  manager's account with full privileges.

Note that VMSINSTAL turns off BYPASS privilege at the start
                  of the installation.

                  1.8.3 Disk Space

Installing ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing requires a certain
amount of free storage space during the installation.
Once ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is installed, less disk
space is required. Table 1-1 summarizes the disk space
requirements for the English language version of ALL-IN-1
Group Conferencing. The disk space is in addition to that
used by your ALL-IN-1 system. For other language versions,
refer to the Read Me First provided for your language. The
disk space is given for each ALL-IN-1 area.

+ You need to allow for the files that are not purged during
                     installation (see Table 1-2)

++ This extra space is used by the language-specific image

+ You need to allow for the files that are not purged during
                     installation (see Table 1-2)

++ This extra space is used by the language-specific image
OA$LLVENGLISH.EXE, which is created when you install, or

Table 1-2 lists the files that are not purged during the
installation. Therefore, you must allow extra space for these
files. The sizes given are those for an uncustomized ALL-IN-1
                  Version 2.4 system.

lang is the name of the language version of ALL-IN-1 Group
                     Conferencing that you are installing.

+ This file is a copy of the ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 file,
OAFORM.FLB. The file is renamed to OAFORM_V24.FLB during
               the
                     installation.

++ These values are for the English language version of
ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4. If you have additional languages,
find the disk space used by these files for each language
installed; the disk space required for these files is
               about
               ###### (2xsize)+100, where size is the size (in blocks)
                     of the files before installation.
               ________________________________________________________________

To determine the number of free blocks on the current system
                  disk, enter the following command:

                  $ SHOW DEVICE SYS$SYSDEVICE

If your ALL-IN-1 system is installed on a disk (or disks)
other than SYS$SYSDEVICE, determine the disk space on the
                  appropriate disk as follows:

                  $ SHOW DEVICE device

                  1.8.4 System Parameters

For the values of the system parameters, and how to change
them, refer to the ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide.

                  1.8.5 Process Account Quotas

The account you use to install ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing
must have sufficient process account quotas to enable you to
perform the installation. For the values of the quotas, and
how to change them, refer to the ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide
                  Part 1 Base Installation.

                  1.8.6 VMSINSTAL Requirements

When you invoke VMSINSTAL, it checks the following:

o Whether you have set your default device and directory to
                     SYS$UPDATE

o Whether you have logged in to a privileged account

o Whether you have adequate quotas for installation

o If your system is running VMS Version 5.1, whether DECnet
                     is running

o Whether any users are logged in to the system

If VMSINSTAL detects any problems during the installation, it
notifies you of the problem and asks if you want to continue
the installation. In some instances, you can enter YES to
continue. To stop the installation process and correct the
situation, enter NO or press RETURN. Then correct the problem
                  and restart the installation.

1.8.7 Backing Up Your System Disk

At the beginning of the installation, VMSINSTAL asks if you
have backed up your system disk. Digital recommends that you
do a system disk backup before installing any software on top
                  of the operating system.

Use the backup procedures that have been established at your
site. For details on performing a system disk backup, refer
to the VMS Backup Utility documentation.

                  1.8.8 ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing Requirements

The ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing installation procedure checks
that the following software is installed:

o VMS Version 5.1 (or higher)

o ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4, with the same language that you want
to install with ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing

               1-8 Preparing to Install

                   o VAX Notes Version 2.0

Note If your users have access to conferences on another
system, that system must be running VAX Notes Version 1.3,
                     or higher.

               1.9 Final Preparations

                  Before starting the installation:

1 Make sure no users are logged in to the VMS system on
which ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is to be installed.

If you are installing ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing in a
VAXcluster where the ALL-IN-1 image and library directory
are shared between nodes, all ALL-IN-1 activity on each
node of the cluster must be disabled and all users logged
out of ALL-IN-1. This ensures that the following files
are available exclusively for update access during
                     installation:

                        OA$LIB_LLV:OAFORM.FLB
                        OA$LIB_LLV:OAHELP.HLB

2 Back up the system disk.

3 Check that all ALL-IN-1 logical names have been set up.
                     Enter

                     $ @SYS$MANAGER:A1V24START device:[directory.DATA_SHARE]

where device:[directory.DATA_SHARE] is the location of the
                     ALL-IN-1 configuration file, A1CONFIG.DAT.

4 If you have customized the files OAGBL.BLI and
OASYMMSG.MAR, you must copy them to the OA$SITE_BUILD_
SHARE directory, since the installation of ALL-IN-1 Group
                     Conferencing replaces these files.

After ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is installed, apply your
customizations to the new versions of these files. You
must then relink your ALL-IN-1 system.

               ________________________________________________________________

                                                                   Installation

This chapter describes how to install ALL-IN-1 Group
                  Conferencing. Section 2.2 contains a step-by-step description
                  of the installation procedure.

For those steps that require you to input information, enter
the information in the space provided, before you start the
                  installation.

The last section covers post-installation considerations.

               2.1 General Information

This section includes information about accessing ALL-IN-1
Group Conferencing Release Notes, determining which files
and logical names have been added to your system, running the
Installation Verification Procedure (IVP), and aborting the
                  installation.

2.1.1 Accessing the Online Release Notes

The ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing Release Notes are included
in the Release Notes for ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4. The ALL-IN-1
Installation Guide Part 1 Base Installation describes how to
                  access the ALL-IN-1 Release Notes.

2.1.2 Determining the Files and Logical Names Added to the
                  System

ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing uses the logical names provided
by your system and ALL-IN-1. Therefore, the installation of
ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing does not add any logical names to
                  your system.

                                                              Installation 2-1

The final location and size of the installed ALL-IN-1 Group
Conferencing software components is shown in Table 2-1.

2.1.3 Running the Installation Verification Procedure (IVP)

The Installation Verification Procedure (IVP) for ALL-IN-1
Group Conferencing verifies the installation. You are asked,
during the installation procedure, whether or not you want to
run the IVP. If you answer YES, the IVP is run automatically
at the end of the installation.

After ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is installed, you can
run the IVP independently to verify that the software is
available on your system (see Section 2.1.3.1). You might
also want to run the IVP after a system failure to be sure
that users can access ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing.

Note The IVP cannot be run unless the ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4
and VAX Notes Version 2.0 Product Authorization Keys are
                  registered and loaded.

                  2.1.3.1 Manual Installation Verification Procedure

You can check the existing installation at any time, by
                  manually running the IVP.

                  To run the IVP manually:

1 Log in to a host system account.

                   2 Enter the following command:

                     $ @SYS$TEST:OAN$IVP

                  2.1.4 Aborting the Installation

To abort the installation procedure at any time, press
CTRL/Y. When you press CTRL/Y, the installation procedure
deletes all files it has created up to that point and exits.
You can then start the installation again.

               2.2 The Installation Procedure

To install ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing, complete the
                  following steps:

               2-4 Installation

                  STEP 1: Invoke VMSINSTAL

To start the installation, log in under the privileged VMS
                  system
manager's account, and enter the following command:

                  $ SET DEFAULT SYS$UPDATE

If you are performing a new, upgrade, or update installation,
                  enter:

                  $ @VMSINSTAL OAN024 device:

                  where:

device is the device on which the distribution media are
to be mounted. You can use either a physical or logical
device name. Logical device names must not begin with A1$,
                     OA$ or OAN$.
OAN024, is the product identifier for the ALL-IN-1 Group
                     Conferencing system.

                  For example, enter

                  $ @VMSINSTAL OAN024 TAPE0

Note Do not use the command @VMSINSTAL * device, since this
causes VMSINSTAL to install the products from the kit in the
                  incorrect order.

If you omit these items, you are prompted for the product
                  identifier and device.

                  The following messages are displayed:

VAX/VMS Software Product Installation Procedure V<version>

               It is <dd-mmm-yyyy> at <hh:mm>

If your system is running VMS Version 5.2, or higher, and any
users are logged in to your system, VMSINSTAL goes to STEP 3.

                                                              Installation 2-5

If your system is running VMS Version 5.2, or higher, and no
users are logged in to your system, VMSINSTAL goes to STEP 4.

                  STEP 2: DECnet status

If your system is running VMS Verison 5.1, and your DECnet
network is running, the following message is displayed:

%VMSINSTAL-W-DECNET, Your DECnet network is up and running.
               * Do you want to continue anyway [NO]?

                  Enter YES to continue.

                  STEP 3: Active Processes

If no users are accessing the system, or you respond YES to
                  the prompt
in STEP 2, VMSINSTAL goes to STEP 4.

If other users are accessing the system, the following
                  message appears:

%VMSINSTAL-W-ACTIVE, The following processes are still active
               <process_name>
                  .
                  .
                  .
               * Do you want to continue anyway [NO]?

where <process_name> refers to the process name of a user
                  logged in to the system.

It is not advisable to continue, so press RETURN to
halt VMSINSTAL Ask any users to log out, and restart the
                  installation procedure.

               2-6 Installation

                  STEP 4: System Backup

                  VMSINSTAL displays:

               * Are you satisfied with the backup of your system disk [YES]?

If you are not satisfied, enter NO, carry out a disk backup,
                  and restart the installation.

If you are satisfied, press RETURN.

STEP 5: Load the distribution media

If you did not specify a device when invoking VMSINSTAL, the
                  following
                  message is displayed:

               * Where will the distribution volumes be mounted:

Enter the device on which the media are to be mounted. You
can use either a physical or logical device name. Logical
device names must not begin with A1$, OA$, or OAN$.

If you did not specify the product identifier when invoking
VMSINSTAL, the following message is displayed:

Enter the products to be processed from the first distribution
                   volume set:

                  Enter the product identifier, OAN024.

If your system is running VMS Version 5.1, VMSINSTAL
                  displays:

               * Options:

If your system is running VMS Version 5.2 (or higher),
                  VMSINSTAL displays:

               * Enter installation options you wish to use (none):

                  Press RETURN to continue.

                                                              Installation 2-7

If you are installing ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing from
magnetic tape or TK50 cartridge, VMSINSTAL displays:

Please mount the first volume of the set on <device>:
               * Are you ready?

where <device> is the device you specified.

Mount the first volume of the distribution media. This is the
                  volume labeled:

                  OAN V2.4 BIN media_type
                  lang LANGUAGE
                  (c) 1989 Digital Equipment Corp.

                  media_type is 16MT9 for tape and TK50 for a TK50 cartridge.
(If you are unfamiliar with the loading of media, see the
VMS system manager's book and the guide on setting up a VMS
                  system).

Note Unlike ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4, both the base and the language
components for ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing are on the same
                  tape or TK50 cartridge.

When you have mounted the volume, enter YES. VMSINSTAL
tries to mount the distribution volume. If it succeeds, the
                  following messages are displayed:

                                 %MOUNT-I-MOUNTED, OAN024 mounted on <device>:

The following products will be processed:
                 OAN V2.4

Beginning installation of OAN V2.4 at <hh:mm>

%VMSINSTAL-I-RELMOVED, The product's release notes have been
                    successfully moved to SYS$HELP.

                  <hh:mm> is the current time.

STEP 6: Check the Mandatory and Optional Software
                  Prerequisites

VMSINSTAL checks that the following software is running on
                  your system:

o VMS Version 5.1 (or higher)

               2-8 Installation

o ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4, with the same language that you want
to install with ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing

o VAX Notes Version 2.0 (or higher)

The installation procedure also checks that the ALL-IN-1
                  logical names are defined.

STEP 7: Indicate whether or not you want to purge files
                  replaced by this installation

Do you want to purge files? .........

ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing replaces various ALL-IN-1 files.
You can choose to have these files purged to save space on
the disk(s) on which ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is being
                  installed.

                  VMSINSTAL displays:

               * Do you want to purge files replaced by this installation?

Enter NO if you have customized any of the ALL-IN-1 files
replaced by this installation. You must save the customized
                  files.

Enter YES if you want to purge the old copies.

STEP 8: Indicate whether or not you want to run the IVPs

Do you want to run the IVPs? ..........

                  VMSINSTAL displays:

               * Do you want to run the IVP after the installation [YES]?

Enter NO if you do not want to run the IVP after the
                  installation.

Press RETURN if you want to run the IVP after the instal-
lation. The IVP is run automatically at the end of the

STEP 11: Check to see if valid ALL-IN-1 and VAX Notes
                  licenses are loaded

VMSINSTAL checks to see if a valid ALL-IN-1 license is
loaded. You must have either a capacity license (that is
an ALLIN1 license) or a subscriber license (that is, an
                  ALLIN1-PERSONAL license) loaded.

VMSINSTAL then checks to see if a valid VAX Notes license is
                  loaded.

If you are installing an additional language, VMSINSTAL
checks to see if either a subscriber license or a language-
specific capacity (ALLIN1-UI-lang) license is loaded.

If a valid license is not found for either ALL-IN-1 or VAX
Notes, the following message is displayed:

%OAN-W-NO_IVP, IVP will not be run, <product_name> license is
                   not installed
%OAN-I-IVP, The IVP should be run after the license has been
                   installed

<product_name> is ALL-IN-1 if the ALL-IN-1 license is
invalid, or VAX Notes if the VAX Notes license is invalid.

The installation continues, but you must register and load
the appropriate license before you can run the IVP.

The installation may fail because the ALL-IN-1 Group
Conferencing functions have not linked to ALL-IN-1. In that
case, the following message is displayed if you enter <NOTES:

Function "NOTES" not implemented in this version

Errors can occur during the installation if any of the
                  following conditions exist:

o The operating system version is incorrect

o A prerequisite software version is incorrect

o The quotas necessary for successful installation are
                     insufficient

o The system parameter values for successful installation
                     are insufficient

o The VMS Help library is currently in use

For descriptions of the error messages generated by these
conditions, see the VMS documentation on system messages,
recovery procedures, and VMS software installation. This
documentation may be online. If you are notified that any
of these conditions exist, you should take the appropriate
action as described in the message. (You might need to change
a system parameter or increase an authorized process account
quota value.) For information on installation requirements,
                  see Chapter 1.

                  Also, check the following:

o That there is enough free space on the system and ALL-IN-1
                     disks (see Section 1.3)

o That you correctly specified the location of the ALL-IN-1
files as requested during the installation

o That the following files are enabled for SYSTEM WRITE
                     access:

                        OAFORM.FLB
                        OAHELP.HLB

o That all logical names referenced in the ALL-IN-1 link
procedure (A1LINK.COM) have been defined at system level,
and that your ALL-IN-1 startup command procedure has been
executed since the installation of ALL-IN-1, or since the
                     last reboot of your system.

Then start the installation procedure again.

Apart from the system conference file, OAN$CONFERENCES.DAT,
ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing has no database of its own.
Instead, it uses ALL-IN-1 and VMS facilities. If any ALL-IN-1
Group Conferencing software components become corrupted or
lost, you can safely install again over the existing version,
                  after you have saved OAN$CONFERENCES.DAT.

3.2 Changes Required for Customized Systems

The ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing installation replaces the
                  following forms:

                     DEFAULT.FRM
                     EDTGMEN.FRM
                     GOLDGMENU.FRM

               3-2 After Installation

                     IM.FRM

If you have customized any of these forms, you must apply
your customizations to the new forms.

If you made changes to the following files, apply the your
                  changes to the new files:

                     OAGBL.BLI
                     OASYMMSG.MAR
                     A1LINK.COM

               3.3 Recompiling the Form Libraries

During the installation of ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing, the
ALL-IN-1 form library OA$LIB_LLV:OAFORM.FLB is updated to
include the ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing forms.

To maintain the run-time performance of ALL-IN-1, you need to
recompile and reinstall the ALL-IN-1 form library. Also, you
should compile and install the OA$LIB_LLV:OAN$FORMS.FLB form
                  library.

Note See the ALL-IN-1 Management Guide for more information on
                  performance enhancements for ALL-IN-1.

To recompile and reinstall the form libraries, do the
                  following:

                   1 Log in to the ALL-IN-1 manager's ALL-IN-1 account:

                     $ ALLIN1/USER=MANAGER

                   2 Enter MGT CSZ PCF

3 Enter OA$LIB_LLV:OAFORM to precompile the form library
                     OAFORM.FLB

If you want to install OAFORM.FLC, enter YES at the
                     prompt:

Do you want to install the new .FLC? [Y/N]

4 If you want to compile the form library, OAN$FORMS.FLB,
                     enter PCF

                   5 Enter OA$LIB_LLV:OAN$FORMS to precompile the OAN$FORMS
                     form library

If you want to install OAN$FORMS.FLC, enter YES at the
                     prompt:

Do you want to install the new .FLC? [Y/N]

                                                        After Installation 3-3

6 Make sure that the compiled form libraries,
                     OA$LIB_LLV:OAFORM.FLC and OA$LIB_LLV:OAN$FORMS.FLC have
                     WORLD READ protection.

               3.4 Recompiling the ALL-IN-1 TXL

A text library (TXL) contains the most frequently used
scripts and document templates. The TXL is installed as a
VMS global section. This makes access faster and uses memory
more efficiently. Therefore, to improve performance, you
should compile and install the ALL-IN-1 TXL and, if you have
one, the site-specific TXL. See the ALL-IN-1 Management Guide
for instructions on compiling and installing the TXLs.

3.5 Startup of ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing

If you elected to run the Installation Verification Procedure
(IVP) during the installation, the ALL-IN-1 startup command
procedure (A1V24START.COM) is executed. If you did not elect
to run IVP, you must execute the ALL-IN-1 startup command
procedure to start up Group Conferencing as follows:

                  $ @SYS$MANAGER:A1V24START

ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is fully integrated with ALL-
IN-1, and is activated when the ALL-IN-1 image is activated
(that is, when a user enters ALLIN1).

3.6 Managing and Customizing the System

Chapter 4 describes how to manage ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing.

               3.7 Determining and Reporting Problems

If you find an error in the ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing
books, you should fill out and submit the Reader's Comments
form at the back of the document in which the error was
found. Include the section and page number where the error
                  was found.

If an error occurs while ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing is being
used and you believe that the error is caused by a problem
with ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing, take one of the following
                  actions:

o Contact your Customer Support Center, if you have a System
Support Agreement or are covered by warranty (see your
                     Software Warranty Addendum)

               3-4 After Installation

o If you think the problem is caused by a software error,
you can submit a Software Performance Report (SPR)

                                                                              4
               ________________________________________________________________

                                                                       Managing

This chapter describes how to manage ALL-IN-1 Group
                  Conferencing.

For more information on managing conferences, see the Guide
                  to VAX Notes.

4.1 Using ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing on VAXcluster Systems

If you are using ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing in a VAXcluster
environment, you must set up a cluster alias. This will allow
your users to modify their notes in a conference regardless
of which node they log in to. See the VMS documentation on
                  clusters.

4.2 Setting Up a List of Conferences

You can set up a list of conferences on your system for use
by your users. Do this as follows:

1 From ALL-IN-1, enter SCF. The Group Conferencing-System
                     Wide Conferences form is displayed.

2 Enter the name of the conference in the Conference name
                     field.

If a record for this conference already exists in the
system conference file OAN$CONFERENCES.DAT, the relevant
information for the conference is placed in the remaining
                     fields.

If a record for this conference does not exist in the
system conference file, the Description and Location
fields remain blank, and the Restricted field is set to
                     the default N.

In both cases, the following prompt is then displayed:

                                                                  Managing 4-1

Do you want to Add, Change, COpy, Delete, or Inquire:

o Enter A to add the specified conference to the system
                        conference file, OAN$CONFERENCES.DAT.

Enter the appropriate details in the Description,
Restricted and Location fields for the conference.

o Enter C to change the details of the specified
                        conference.

a Move the cursor to the field to be changed

b Press ERASE LINE and enter the new information

o Enter CO to copy the details of the specified
conference to another record in the system conference
                        file

o Enter D to remove the specified conference from the
                        system conference file

o Enter I to check the details of the specified
                        conference

               4.3 Moving a Conference to NOTES$LIBRARY

A conference is usually created in the NOTES$LIBRARY
directory. If a user does not have privileges to create
a conference in this directory, the user can create the
conference in their own directory. You can then move the
conference to the NOTES$LIBRARY directory as follows:

1 Log in to the VMS system manager's account

                   2 Enter the command:

                     $ @NOTES$MOVE_CONFERENCE

3 Enter the location of the conference file at the prompt:

                     Notefile specification:

4 Enter the name of moderator for that conference at the
                     prompt:

                     Conference moderator username:

5 The following prompt is then displayed:

Allow access only through NOTES server? [NO]

               4-2 Managing

The VAX Notes server allows you to control access to
a conference file in the NOTES$LIBRARY directory. The
conference file is protected so that only the system
manager, the owner of the file, and the VAX Notes server,
NOTES$SERVER, can access it directly. Therefore, users
other than the system manager and the owner of the
conference file must access the file through the VAX
Notes server. A user must enter node::conference, when
adding the conference to their note book, where node is
the name of the node containing the conference file, and
conference is the name of the conference (for example,
NODE::SAMPLE). If the conference file is on a VAXcluster
system, and cluster aliasing is in use, then the node name
                     is the cluster alias.

Enter NO, or press RETURN, if the conference file is
not to be accessed through the server. The conference
file is then moved to NOTES$LIBRARY, and the protection
on the conference file is set to SYSTEM:RWE, OWNER:RWE,
                     GROUP:RWE, WORLD:RWE.

Enter YES if the conference file is to be accessed through
the server only The conference file is then moved to
NOTES$LIBRARY, and the protection on the conference file
is set to SYSTEM:RWE, OWNER:RWE, GROUP:, WORLD:. The
Access Control List for the conference file is set so
that the VAX Notes server and the owner of the conference
                     file have access to it.

You can provide extra security for confidential conferences
through an Access Control List (ACL). See the VAX Notes
                  documentation for further information.

               4.4 Deleting a Conference

To delete a conference on your system, do the following:

1 From ALL-IN-1, enter IM GPC. The Group Conferencing menu
                     is displayed.

2 Press SELECT and enter the class and conference name of
                     the conference to be deleted.

3 Enter MDC. The following prompt is displayed:

Do you really want to delete this conference? [Y/N]:

Enter YES to delete the conference. Otherwise, enter NO.

                                                                  Managing 4-3

                                                     Software Distribution List

This appendix lists the files contained on the distribution
                  media.

A.1 Magnetic Tape and TK50 Kits

The ALL-IN-1 Group Conferencing files are supplied on either
one magnetic tape or one TK50, which is labeled as follows:

                  OAN V2.4 BIN media_type
                  lang LANGUAGE
                  (c) 1989 Digital Equipment Corp.

This contains the save sets OAN024.A and OANLlang024.A. A
list of the files in these save sets is given in Section A.3.

                  media_type is 16MT9 for tape and TK50 for a TK50 cartridge

A.2 Compact Disk Consolidated Software Distribution Kits

The compact disk (CD) contains directories of the form
[OANlang], where lang is the language available to you,
for example, [OANENGLISH]. This directory contains two
subdirectories; one containing the save sets for the ALL-
IN-1 Group Conferencing kit, the other containing various
