                                      ALL-IN-1

                                    READ ME FIRST

          Introduction

This document is for the person responsible for installing
             the ALL-IN-1 software. It describes:

o What your ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 kit contains

o Where to find installation information

o The order in which you should install the products in the
                kit

Note: The Release Notes may contain further information about
installation. Before you start installation, print the
Release Notes (see the ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide Part 1
Base Installation) and read the section on installation.

The ALL-IN-1 Release Notes also contain the release notes for
             ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 Group Conferencing.

CAUTION: If you are running ASSETS packages with ALL-IN-1, you
must contact your local software services representative
before installing ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 to determine whether
or not your versions of the ASSETS packages work with
             ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4.

If you are running third party software with ALL-IN-1, you
must contact the software vendor to determine whether or not
the software will work with ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4.

                                                                         1

Components and Installation Information for ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4

ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 is an international product and consists
             of the following components:

o An international base component, which provides the
functions that are common to all ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4
                systems.

o A language component, which provides the ALL-IN-1
Version 2.4 language-specific features. For example, User
                Interface features.

o A market component, which provides features that are
specific to a given market. For example, keyboard and
                modem support.

          2

Each component is supplied on a separate piece of media. The
language component and the market component consist of two
pieces of media; one containing the software and the other
containing the appropriate part of the Release Notes.

The ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide is in three parts:

o ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide Part 1 Base Installation

This part describes how to install ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4.
Although it is a large book, you need only refer to the
chapters relating to the type of installation that you are
                going to perform.

                                                                         3

o ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide Part 2 Language Installation

This part contains information specific to the language
that you are installing; a version is supplied with each
language component. Refer to this part as indicated in the
ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide Part 1 Base Installation.

o ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide Part 3 Market Installation

This part contains information specific to your market
component. Refer to this part as indicated in the ALL-IN-1
Installation Guide Part 1 Base Installation.

Each part is packaged separately; you should put all parts in
your ALL-IN-1 Version 2.3 Installation Guide binder.

The Release Notes are in two parts:

o Release Notes Part 1 Language

This part contains release notes specific to the base
component and language component that you are going to
install, and is supplied with the language component of
                your kit.

o Release Notes Part 2 Market

This part contains release notes specific to your market
component, and is supplied with the market component of
you kit. (Note that this document may not exist for all
                market components.)

Each part is supplied on a separate piece of media. You
should print all parts before you start the installation.
See the ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide Part 1 Base Installation
for instructions on printing the Release Notes.

          Software Licensing

A Service Update Product Authorization Key (PAK) for ALL-IN-1
is supplied with ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 update kits only. If
your kit is an update kit, register the Service Update PAK
             supplied with that kit.

If your ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 kit is not an update kit, a full
PAK is supplied with the kit. Register this PAK.

If you obtained an ALL-IN-1 license for ALL-IN-1 Version 2.3,
then register the PAK you obtained with that license.

You must register and load the appropriate PAK before you
install ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 (see the ALL-IN-1 Installation
             Guide Part 1 Base Installation).

An additional installation option registers the PAK
information for the following products (see the ALL-IN-1
             Installation Guide for details):

              _ VAX FMS Version 2.4

              _ Message Router Version 3.1

_ Message Router VMSmail Gateway Version 3.1

_ CDA Converter Library Version 1.0

              _ VAX Notes Version 2.0

             VAX Notes Licenses

VAX Notes Version 2.0 and Version 2.1 supports the License
Management Facility (LMF) features provided by VMS (Version
5.0 and higher), and requires that a Product Authorization
             Key (PAK) be registered.

The license registration information you need is contained in
the PAK that is shipped with VAX Notes, and in the VAX Notes
             Installation Guide.

                                                                         5

There are three kinds of licenses for VAX Notes: NOTES,
             NOTES-USER, and NOTES-CLIENT. The NOTES and NOTES-USER
licenses have full functionality; the only difference is
that the NOTES-USER license permits only a specified maximum
number of users to use VAX Notes at any one time, whereas the
NOTES license does not set a limit. The NOTES-CLIENT license
does not have full functionality. It allows users to access
only remote conferences; they cannot create or access local
conferences. The NOTES-CLIENT license does not restrict the
             number of users.

You must register and load your license for VAX Notes before
you start the installation in order to run the Installation
Verification Procedure (IVP) and use the software.

Additional Release Notes for ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4

The following sections describe additional Release Notes
             for ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 and ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 Group
             Conferencing.

             Known Software Problems and Restrictions

CDA Installation If you want CDA support with ALL-IN-1
Version 2.4, you must install both the DECwindows base kit
and the DECwindows Application Files before you install CDA.

             ALL-IN-1 Installation The OA$DATA_SHARE:CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT
file is not updated to the new ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 format,
if you are performing one of the following installations:

              _ Upgrade from ALL-IN-1 Version 2.3

_ Upgrade of an ALL-IN-1 Version 2.3 additional language

              _ Upgrade from ALL-IN-1 STARTER Version 1.0

_ Upgrade of an ALL-IN-1 STARTER Version 1.0 additional

                language

_ An additional language installation on a new ALL-IN-1

                Version 2.4 system

          6

_ An update installation, if you have not already updated

                OA$DATA_SHARE:CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT

_ An update from ALL-IN-1 STARTER Version 2.4, if you

upgraded to ALL-IN-1 STARTER Version 2.4 from ALL-IN-1
                STARTER Version 1.0

_ An additional language update installation, if you have

                not already updated on OA$DATA_SHARE:CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT

             Therefore, to update OA$DATA_SHARE:CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT, do
             the following:

1 Log in to the ALL-IN-1 manager's VMS account.

2 Set the default directory to OA$DATA_SHARE:

              3 Copy CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT to CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.SAV

4 If your ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 kit is on tape, do the
                following:

a Mount the tape labeled A1Llanguage024 on a tape drive
(for example MTA0:), where language is the language
component for which you are doing the update.

b Copy the file CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT from the tape:

          $ BACKUP/LOG A1LENGLISH024.D/SAVE/SELECT=CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT CM_SDC.NEW

If your ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 kit is on disk, copy the file
CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT from the save set A1Llanguage024.D, as
                follows:

          $ BACKUP/LOG device:[directory]A1Llanguage024.D/SAVE -
          _$ /SELECT=CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT CM_SDC.NEW

where device:[directory] is the location of the save set.

5 Enter the following commands to suppress warnings of
                duplicate records during the update:

                                                                         7

          $ SAVED_MESSAGE = F$ENVIRONMENT("MESSAGE")
          $ SET MESSAGE/NOFACILITY/NOSEVERITY/NOIDENTITY/NOTEXT

              6 Enter the following commands:

          $ CONVERT/MERGE/NOEXIT CM_SDC.NEW CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT
          $ SET MESSAGE 'SAVED_MESSAGE'
          $ DELETE/NOLOG CM_SDC.NEW;*

7 Check the CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT file to ensure that it is
                updated correctly, as follows:

                 a Log in to the ALL-IN-1 manager's ALL-IN-1 account:

          $ ALLIN1/USER=MANAGER

b Enter CM ADE. The Access DIGITAL Elements menu is
                   displayed.

                 c Press SELECT.

d Enter GENERAL_JS in the Name field, then press
FIND. (If you have more than one language component
installed, a list of elements is displayed. Select the
element that has the language name you specified in the
save set name in step 4.)

                   ALL-IN-1 should display the following:

          Name: GENERAL_JS_ERROR

          Type: SCP

          Language: <language>

<language> is the name of the language that the element
                   is in.

e Clear the three fields, and enter OA$CDA in the Name
field, then press FIND. ALL-IN-1 should display the
                   following:

          8

          Name: OA$CDA_STARTUP

          Type: COM

          Language: SHARE

8 If the new CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT file is updated correctly,
delete the file CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.SAV. Otherwise, copy the
CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.SAV file back to CM_SDC_ELEMENTS.DAT, and
                start again.

9 Repeat steps 3 to 8 for each language component installed
                on your system.

             ALL-IN-1 Management

_ When you use the option MGT MUA CTN (Cancel network

transfers) an index of the accounts to be transferred is
displayed. You can then select one or more accounts from
the index, for which the transfer is to be cancelled. If
you use the multiple option XCAN to cancel the transfer of
more than one account, the shared documents for the first
account only are fully restored. The shared documents for
the remaining accounts are not replaced.

Workaround: Move the script MUA_CTN_RESTORE_DOCS.SCP to
the development area using Customisation Management, and
                edit the script as follows:

                 1 Change the line

                   GET #SAVESET = 0

                   to read

                   GET #CUR_SAVESET = 0

This ensures that the saveset number is reset to zero
each time an account is processed, so that the savesets
associated with that account are restored when the
Cancel network transfer option is used.

2 Enter CM MLA to mark the element to be moved to the
                   live area.

                                                                         9

3 Enter MGT CSZ PME (Process marked elements). The
modified script is moved to the live area.

              _ Moving User Accounts

When you enter MGT MUA MDK, or SA MUA MDK (Move account to
another disk) the following error message is written to
                the log file:

                  Symbol #DIRECT . . . not found

If you are moving an ALL-IN-1 account that shares the same
root directory as another ALL-IN-1 account, the files for
both accounts are moved. For example, if two accounts,
USER1 and USER2, share the same VMS root directory
DEV1:[SHARED], their ALL-IN-1 subdirectories might be:

                   DEV1:[SHARE.USER1.A1]
                   DEV1:[SHARE.USER2.A1]

When you elect to move the account of USER1 to another
disk, the files for both USER1 and USER2 are moved to the
                new directory DEV2:[SHARED].

                Workaround:

1 Move the script OA$LIB_SHARE:SM_MOVEDISK.SCP to the
development area using Customization Management, and
                   edit the script to change:

for profil:vmsusr with .vmsusr eqs #vms_user do -
                     get #direct = .direct -
                     get #logical = oa$dir_parse.dir[#direct] -
                     do sm_xlate_device -
                     .if #xlated eqs #source_dev then -
                             compute #share_count = #share_count + 1

          10

                   to the following:

for profil:vmsusr with .vmsusr eqs #vms_user do -
                     get #direct = .direct \\ -
                     get #logical = oa$dir_parse.dir[#direct] \\ -
                     do sm_xlate_device \\ -
                     .if #xlated eqs #source_dev then -
                             compute #share_count = #share_count + 1

2 Enter CM MLA to mark the element to be moved to the
                   live area.

3 Enter MGT CSZ PME (Process marked elements). The
modified script is moved to the live area.

Note that when you move a user account, a mail message
stating, incorrectly, that the operation has failed is
sent to the ALL-IN-1 account from which the operation was
performed. The operation has not failed.

The message is produced because the disk quota for the user's
VMS account has not been set up on the new disk. Use the
DISKQUOTA utility to set up the disk quota for the user's VMS
             account on the new disk.

Known Group Conferencing Problems and Restrictions

_ Users must not create a folder with the following name

                (including the character string *!*):

                *!* Notes *!*

ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 Group Conferencing creates a folder
with this name as a temporary work area when a user is
creating a reply to a note in a conference. ALL-IN-1
Version 2.4 Group Conferencing later deletes all documents
                in this folder.

Note: You must warn your ALL-IN-1 users not to create a
                folder with this name.

_ In the ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 Group Conferencing Installation

and Managent Guide, the first step in the section entitled
Setting Up a List of Conferences should read:

1 From ALL-IN-1, enter IM GPC SCF. The Group Conferencing-
System Wide Conferences form is displayed.

          Installation Order

The following installation order is recommended:

              1 Register the ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 license.

2 Run the ALL-IN-1 installation procedure, and select
option 7 to register the licenses for VAX FMS Version 2.4,
Message Router Version 3.1, Message Router VMSmail Gateway
Version 3.1, CDA Converter Library Version 1.0, and VAX
Notes (the license for VAX Notes covers both Version 2.0
                and Version 2.1).

3 Install VAX FMS Version 2.4, if it is not already
                installed on your system.

                                                                        13

4 Install VAX ACMS[1] Version 3.1, or higher, if you want to
incorporate it with ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4.

5 Install VAX DATATRIEVE[1] Version 5.0, or higher, if you
want to incorporate it with ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4.

6 Install Message Router Version 3.1 (unless it is already
installed on your system), if you want to send and receive
messages to and from other systems, or you want to use
Mail directory addressing, or you want to send mail to
VMSmail users, either on the local system or on remote
                systems.

7 Configure Message Router Version 3.1, if it is installed
                and not yet configured.

Note: If you want to install Message Router VMSmail Gateway
Version 3.1, after you have installed Message Router
Version 3.1, you can defer the configuration of Message
Router and configure both products together at step 9.

8 Install Message Router VMSmail Gateway Version 3.1(unless
it is already installed on your system), if you want to
send mail to VMSmail users, either on the local system or
                remotely.

9 Configure Message Router VMSmail Gateway Version 3.1, if
it is installed and not yet configured.

10 Install CDA Converter Library Version 1.0 (unless it is
                already installed on your system).

11 Install CDA Patch kit for VMS Version 5.3. See the section
headed "Installing the CDA Patch Kit for VMS Version 5.3".

13 Configure the exception reporting routines for ALL-IN-1
                Version 2.4 Electronic Messaging subsystem.

              14 Install VAX Notes.

If your system is running VMS Version 5.1 or Version 5.2,
you must install VAX Notes Version 2.0.

If your system is running VMS Version 5.3, you must
                install VAX Notes Version 2.1.

Note: If you want to use VAX Notes with DECwindows, you must
ensure that your system is running VMS Version 5.3 or
higher, and you must install VAX Notes Version 2.1.

              15 Install ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 Group Conferencing.

See the ALL-IN-1 Installation Guide Part 1 Base Installation
             for details.

Note: WPS-PLUS is supplied with ALL-IN-1. If you choose to
integrate WPS-PLUS with ALL-IN-1, it becomes the default
             editor in ALL-IN-1.

CDA Patch Kit for VMS Version 5.3

The ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 kit includes a CDA Patch kit for VMS
Version 5.3. The kit is on the media labeled:

              _ For TK50 kits

                AQ-PCXKA-BE CDA V1.0 UPDATE TK50

              _ For magnetic tape kits

                BB-PCXLA-BE CDA V1.0 UPDATE 16MT9

If you require CDA support from ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4, and
you have a VMS Version 5.3 system, install the CDA Patch Kit
for VMS Version 5.3. Although this patch kit is included with
ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4, it is not specific to ALL-IN-1 Version
2.4, and other products can utilize the fixes provided with
             the patch.

                                                                        15

The patch kit provides the modified versions of the CDA Base
Services on VMS Version 5.3 with the following fixes:

o Mailing a Digital Document Interchange Format (DDIF) file
with an external reference to a Digital Table Interchange
Format (DTIF) file no longer causes an access violation.

o Viewing a DDIF file, produced by DX Version 1.1, with the
CDA viewer no longer shows the entire document as blank.

The CDA Patch Kit for VMS Version 5.3 is available as a
saveset, and is installed using the VMSINSTAL utility (see
the section headed "Installing the CDA Patch Kit for VMS
             Version 5.3").

The CDA Patch Kit for VMS Version 5.3 includes the CDA
Version 1.0 Update Release Notes. These release notes contain
important information about working with CDA documents in
ALL-IN-1. They also describe CDA features and system problems
(with workarounds, if available) which have not yet been
             corrected.

To access the release notes, log in to the privileged VMS
system manager's account, and do the following:

              1 Enter the following commands:

                Otherwise, enter the option required.

3 If you asked to print the release notes, enter the name
of the printer queue you want to use in response to the
                prompt:

          * Queue name [SYS$PRINT]:

4 Press RETURN in response to the following prompt, to
                terminate the installation procedure:

          * Do you want to continue the installation [NO]?

If you attempt to install the patch kit on a system running
VMS Version 5.2 or earlier, the installation procedure
displays the following message, and then exits:

          Requires VMS Version 5.3

If you attempt to install the patch kit on a system that
already has the patch kit installed, the installation
procedure displays the following message, and then exits:

CDA Base Services are already up to date

             Additional CDA Release Notes

CDA support varies depending on the version of VMS you are
running. For details of CDA support on VMS see the ALL-IN-1
             Version 2.4 Software Product Description.

The version of VMS that you are running affects results when
             you read a CDA document.

Note: You are not able to see graphics when you read a CDA
             document in ALL-IN-1.

o VMS Version 5.2 or earlier

                                                                        17

If you set the handling of a CDA document to the correct
CDA handling (DDIF, DTIF, DOTS), you see correctly
                formatted text.

If you leave the handling of a CDA document blank, the
                text is unformatted.

              o VMS Version 5.3

If you leave the handling of a CDA document blank, the
text is formatted, and a line of explanatory text is
included wherever there are graphics in the file. You
are unable to see the graphics themselves when you read a
                document.

If you set the handling of a CDA document to the correct
CDA handling (DDIF, DTIF, DOTS), the text is formatted,
but there are only spaces where the graphics are, with no
                explanatory text.

See the ALL-IN-1 User's Reference for information on how to
set the handling type on a document.
