Cover Letter for HP Availability Manager Version 2.3-1 for
          OpenVMS

          October 2003

          Dear Availability Manager Customer,

This letter applies only to HP Availability Manager Version
          2.3-1 for OpenVMS systems.

With this release of the Availability Manager, HP would like
to point out two items of information so that you can take full
          advantage of the release:

o If you intend to install HP Availability Manager on a version
of OpenVMS older than Version 7.2, as a prerequisite you
must install the latest PCSI patch kit. The updated PCSI kit
is required to correctly install files from the kit. This
is explained further in Section 2.5.2 of the Availability
             Manager installation instructions.

o HP Availability Manager Version 2.3-1 for OpenVMS corrects a
number of problems with the amount of memory configured to
run the software properly. HP has found that the Availability
Manager runs well using the default configuration when you
monitor approximately 20 nodes. If you need to monitor more
nodes or open several node displays simultaneously and find
that the software runs more slowly, you might need more
memory to run the Availability Manager more efficiently.
Section 4.5.1 of the installation instructions explains this
more fully. However, setting the initial heap size to 40MB
and the maximum heap size to 100MB is a good starting place.
