Transaction number shall be used as a communication reference. It is used to uniquely define the communication as described in paragraph 3.1. It is always generated by the initiating end and includes the Node Identity of the NMT-Node which started the transaction.
The format of the transaction number field is shown in the following figure. The transaction number has a length of 32 bits.

The coding of the NMT-Node Identity is a binary representation of Id1Id2Id3 as described in paragraph 2.4.1. The NMT-Node identity will always be a decadic number.
The spare field is coded 0000.
