Each load host on which the X25router 2000 software is installed must contain: oo A valid system configuration for the relevant operating system and for the appropriate DECnet product (refer to the DECnet and appropriate operating system SPDs). oo A supported connection on the same LAN as the X25router 2000. oo An appropriate device available to read the software during installation: oo MT9 MAGNETIC tape drive or TK50 magnetic tape drive Other Hardware Required The X25router 2000 software requires the DEC MicroServer (DEMSA) or DEC MicroServer-SP (DEMSB) hardware unit, available as follows: oo DEMSA-AA for use with 120 V AC power supplies oo DEMSA-AB for use with 240 V AC power supplies oo DEMSB-AA for use with 120 V AC power supplies oo DEMSB-AB for use with 240 V AC power supplies The DEC MicroServer and DEC MicroServer-SP have a built-in LAN controller, however, a suitable connection to connect to the customer's LAN is necessary, together with any necessary extension cables. The DEC MicroServer and DEC MicroServer-SP use adapter cables to provide the necessary interchange circuits at the appropriate electrical interface types and ISO standard connections for each synchronous line. A cable is needed for each line used. The following table shows the cable numbers for each of the electrical interface types. Note that the MicroServer-SP is provided with a V.28/V.24 cable as standard. Adapter Cables Electrical Interface Type Adapter Cable Connector/pinout CCITT V.28/V.24 EIA-RS232-C/D BS19D-02 ISO 2110 CCITT V.10 EIA-RS423/449 BC19E-02 ISO 4902 CCITT V.36/X.27 V.11 EIA-RS422/449 BC19B-02 ISO 4902 CCITT V.35 BC19F-02 ISO 2593 CCITT X.21 {1980} (Leased services) BC19C-02 ISO 4903 The BS19D-02 cable provides the V.28/V.24 (RS232-D) interface, but is supplied with an adapter that allows it to be used for RS232-C as well. BLOCK SPACE REQUIREMENTS Block space requirements (Block Cluster Size = 1) For VMS and Micro VMS Operating Systems: Without TRACE With TRACE Disk space required for installation: 2,000 blocks 2,700 blocks (1,024) Kbytes) (1,382 Kbytes) Disk space required for use (permanent): 7,000 blocks 7,700 blocks (3,584 Kbytes) (3,942 Kbytes) Disk space requirements for ULTRIX-32 Operating Systems: Disk space required for installation: 1,750 Kbytes Disk space required for use (permanent): 4,500 Kbytes These values refer to the disk space required on the system disk. The sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's system environment, configuration, and software options. The space indicated for permanent occupancy includes disk space that should be reserved to receive one up-line dump. CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT VMS Systems Only This layered product is fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VAXcluster* configuration without restrictions. The HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS sections of this product's Software Product Description and System Support Addendum detail any special hardware required by this product. * V5.x VAXcluster configurations are fully described in the VAXcluster Software Product Description (29.78.xx) and include CI, Ethernet, and Mixed Interconnect configurations. Note that the configuration procedure needs to be executed on each node that you require to be a load host. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS The X25router 2000 needs at least one ULTRIX, VMS or MicroVMS system to act as a load host and dump receiver. For each VMS and MicroVMS System acting as a load host or dump receiver: oo VMS Operating System V4.7 - V5.2 or MicroVMS Operating System V4.7 - V5.2 oo DECnet-VAX V4.7 - V5.2 For each ULTRIX System acting as a load host or dump receiver: oo ULTRIX-32 Operating System V3.0 - V3.1 or ULTRIX Worksystem Software V2.0 - V2.1 (including the ULTMOP subset) oo DECnet-ULTRIX V3.0 - V3.1 VMS Tailoring Classes (VMS Systems Only) For VMS V5.x systems, the following VMS classes are required for full functionality of this layered product: VMS Required Saveset Network Support For more information on VMS classes and tailoring, refer to the VMS Operating System Software Product Description (SPD 25.01.xx). MicroVMS Tailoring (VMS Systems Only) For MicroVMS V4.x systems, the following components of MicroVMS are required for full functionality of this product: Base System OPTIONAL SOFTWARE For VMS Systems Only To use any of the host-to-host or terminal-host capabilities of an X.25 link from the X25router 2000, a VAX P.S.I. Access product must be installed on all DECnet nodes requiring such access. This additional software is not necessary to use DDCMP or DECnet DLM circuits. The following Version of VAX P.S.I. Access is supported: oo VAX P.S.I. Access V4.2 GROWTH CONSIDERATIONS The minimum hardware/software requirements for any future version of this product may be different from the requirements of the current version.
