             VAXcluster CONSOLE SYSTEM VERSION 1.3 COVER LETTER

             Dear VCS Customer:

             We are pleased to provide you with Version 1.3 of the VAXcluster
             Console System (VCS). VCS is a system management tool that pro-
             vides a central point of control for all system-wide console func-
             tions, eliminating the need for redundant console terminals. VCS
             V1.3 is a VMS Version 5.3 DECwindows layered software product,
             and utilizes MicroVAX and VAXstation systems as host hardware
             platforms.

             VCS manages stand-alone VAXes, VAXcluster systems, or any device
             that sends ASCII data over an RS-232C line, and support XON/XOFF
             and I/O buffering. Hence, PDP-11 processors, line printer servers
             or controllers, LAN Bridges, and other third-party devices that
             meet those requirements can be monitored from by VCS from one
             central location.

             VCS is installed using the VMSINSTAL procedure. Please refer
             to Chapter 2 of the VCS Software Manual for the installation
             procedure.
