Processor Restrictions o A TK50 tape drive is required for MicroVAX 2000 and VAXsta- tion 2000 systems. o VAXset requires sufficient on-line mass storage to accommo- date the components of this package and the libraries created by VAX DEC/CMS and VAX Language-Sensitive Editor/Source Code Analyzer. o VAXset requires a valid VAX, MicroVAX or VAXstation configu- ration. For more information on valid system configuration, please refer to the VMS Operating System Software Product Description (SPD 25.01.xx). Terminals Some components of VAXset require the following terminals for Character Cell Interface: o A VT1xx, VT2xx, VT3xx, or ANSI CRT 2 VAXset Package, Release 10 SSA 27.07.09-A Some components of VAXset require the following configuration for DECwindows Interface: o A valid DECwindows workstation configuration. Please refer to the individual component's Software Product Description for valid configuration. Block Space Requirements (Block Cluster Size = 1): Disk space required for 33,700 blocks installation: (17.5M bytes) Disk space required for 28,200 blocks permanent use: (14.5M bytes) Note: Approximately 275 blocks should be added for each language you choose to have supported by the Editor component of the VAX Language-Sensitive Editor/Source Code Analyzer. For installation of the Language-Sensitive Editor component of the VAX Language-Sensitive Editor/Source Code Analyzer with support for all the languages: Disk space required for 36,725 blocks installation: (18.9M bytes) Disk space required for 31,225 blocks permanent use: (16.0M bytes) These counts refer to the disk space required on the system disk. The sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's system environment, configuration, and software options selected. Memory Requirements for DECwindows Support 3 VAXset Package, Release 10 SSA 27.07.09-A The minimum supported memory for this application running in a standalone DECwindows environment with both the client and server executing on that same system is 8 MB. The performance and memory usage of DECwindows applications are particularly sensitive to system configuration. Less memory may be required on the client system (the system where the software is installed and executed) if the server (the component that displays the application) resides on another system. More memory may be required on a system with several applications running or may be desirable to improve the performance of an application. 2 OPTIONAL HARDWARE None 3 CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT This layered product is fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VAXcluster* configuration without restric- tions. The HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS sections of this product's Software Product Description and System Support Addendum detail any special hardware required by this product. * V5.x VAXcluster configurations are fully described in the VAXcluster Software Product Description (28.78.xx) and in- clude CI, Ethernet and Mixed Interconnect configurations. 4 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS For systems using terminals: (No DECwindows interface) o VMS Operating System V5.3 - V5.4 Note: VMS DECwindows Compute Server Component must be installed to use VAX Performance and Coverage Analyzer. 4 VAXset Package, Release 10 SSA 27.07.09-A For workstations running VWS: o VMS Operating System V5.3 - V5.4 o VMS Workstation Software V4.2 For workstations running DECwindows: o VMS Operating System (and necessary components of VMS DECwin- dows) V5.3 - V5.4 VAXset may run in either of the following ways: o Stand-alone execution - Running the X11 display server and the client application on the same machine. o Remote execution - Running the X11 display server and the client application on different machines. VMS DECwindows is part of the VMS Operating System but must be installed separately. Installation of VMS DECwindows gives you the option to install any or all of the following three components: o VMS DECwindows Compute Server (Base kit; provides runtime support) o VMS DECwindows Device Support o VMS DECwindows Programming Support For stand-alone execution, the following DECwindows components must be installed on the machine: o VMS DECwindows Compute Server (Base Kit; provides runtime support) o VMS DECwindows Device Support o VMS DECwindows Programming Support For remote execution, the following DECwindows components must be installed on the machines: 5 VAXset Package, Release 10 SSA 27.07.09-A Server Machine o VMS DECwindows Compute Server (Base Kit; provides runtime support) o VMS DECwindows Device Support o VMS DECwindows Programming Support Client Machine o VMS DECwindows Compute Server (Base Kit; provides runtime support) o VMS DECwindows Device Support o VMS DECwindows Programming Support VMS Tailoring For VMS V5.x, the following classes of VMS are required for full functionality of this layered product. o VMS Required Saveset o Programming Support o Utilities o Secure User's Environment For more information on VMS classes and tailoring, refer to the VMS Operating System Software Product Description (SPD 25.01.xx).
