           Read Before Installing or Using VMS/ULTRIX Connection
          Version 1.3

          Whether you are a new or a continuing VMS/ULTRIX Con-
          nection customer, please take time to read the follow-
          ing information about your product.

          Installation Information

          The media for the Connection includes both the VMS
          /ULTRIX Connection Version 1.3 and Connection Version
          1.0.

          The Connection Version 1.3 requires VMS Version 5.0 or
          higher. DECrpc Version 1.0 requires 5.2 or higher.

          Previous versions of the Connection do not need to be
          installed before this version.

          Release Notes Information

          The release notes for the Connection Version 1.3 con-
          tain information on the following:

          o  Installation

          o  New features and functions

          o  Problems corrected since the last release

          You can read the release notes before installing the
          Connection by invoking
          VMSINSTAL and following the instructions that start the
          installation procedure. You can also read the release
          notes following the installation of the Connection by
          typing or printing the file SYS$HELP:UCX013.RELEASE_
          NOTES.

          Contents of This Kit

          o  Indented Bill Report (BIL) and Bill of Materials
             (BOM)

             Please read the BIL and BOM enclosed in this kit and
             check to see that all items listed are actually in
             your kit. If your kit is damaged or any items are
             missing, call your Digital representative.

          o  Media

             If you ordered media, you will find the media and
             the VMS/ULTRIX Connection Installation Guide in this
             kit.

             The media for the Connection includes both the
             VMS/ULTRIX Connection Version 1.3 and DEC Remote
             Procedure Call Version 1.0.

             Consult the VMS/ULTRIX Connection Installation Guide
             for information about installing the Connection and
             DECrpc on your system.

             Note that the VMS/ULTRIX Connection Installation
             Guide is included with the media.

          o  Product Authorization Key (PAK)

             The PAK contains information necessary to register
             the Connection before you install it. The PAK is
             required, unless you will be using only the TCP
             /IP component of the Connection for DECwindows
             applications.

             DECrpc Version 1.0 does not reguire a PAK.

          o  Software Product Description (SPD)

             The SPD provides an overview of the Connection kit
             and its features.

          o  Software Performance Report (SPR)

             Use this form to report any problems with the
             Connection, provided you have purchased warranty
             services.
