Other Hardware Required A properly configured DECnet/SNA Gateway or VMS/SNA system for access to the IBM mainframe environment is required: DECnet/SNA Gateway (DECSA-FA) (SPD 30.15.xx) DEC MicroServer (DEMSA-Ax) (SPD 25.C6.xx) DEC MicroServer-SP (DEMSB-Ax) (SPD 25.C6.xx) DEC ChannelServer (DESNA-Ax) (SPD 29.76.xx) VMS/SNA (SPD 27.01) Block Space Requirements (Block Cluster Size = 1): Disk space required for installation: 2,600 blocks (1,300K bytes) Disk space required for use (permanent): 1,500 blocks (750K bytes) These counts refer to the disk space required on the system disk. The sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's system environment, configuration, and software options. Memory Requirements for DECwindows Support The minimum supported memory for this application running in a stand-alone DECwindows environment with both the client and server executing on that same system is 4 MB. The performance and memory usage of DECwindows applications are particularly sensitive to system configuration. Less memory may be required on the client system (the system where the software is installed and executed) if the server (the component that displays the application) resides on another system. More memory may be required on a system with several applications running or may be desirable to improve the performance of an application. The minimum memory supported is 4 MB. However, the use of this software in conjunction with increased memory capability improves performance. The memory size suggested for most typical hardware configurations is at least 6 MB. CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT This layered product is fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VAXcluster* configuration without restrictions. The HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS sections of this product's Software Product Description and System Support Addendum detail any special hardware required by this product. * V5.x VAXcluster configurations are fully described in the VAXcluster Software Product Description (29.78.xx) and include CI, Ethernet and Mixed Interconnect configurations. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS The DECwindows DECnet/SNA 3270 Terminal Emulator for VMS requires one of the following products. Refer to the respective SPD for prerequisite hardware and software. oo VMS/SNA V2.0 (SPD 27.01.xx) oo DECnet/SNA Gateway-CT V1.0 (SPD 29.76.xx) oo DECnet/SNA Gateway-ST V1.1 (SPD 25.C6.xx) oo DECnet/SNA Gateway V1.5 (SPD 30.15.xx) For a DECnet/SNA Gateway environment: oo VMS Operating System V5.1 - V5.2 (and necessary components of VMS DECwindows) oo DECnet-VAX V5.1 - V5.2 oo DECnet/SNA VMS Gateway Management V2.0 (for use with DEMSA, DEMSB, and DESNA hardware) is required on the gateway load host node. oo DECnet/SNA Gateway Management V1.5 (for use with DECSA hardware) is required on all VMS systems from which the DECwindows DECnet/SNA 3270 Terminal Emulator for VMS provides access.
