Dear Customer: Please take a few moments to read the following information concerning your DECmcc Developer's Toolkit Version 1.1 distribution kit. This package contains the DECmcc Developer's Toolkit Version 1.1 software and user documentation. Please check the Bill of Materials to see that all items listed are in your distribution kit. If any item is missing or damaged, contact your Digital representative. The DECmcc Developer's Toolkit Version 1.0 documentation set did not change with the DECmcc Version 1.1 software release; all the Version 1.0 documentation is current and accurate for Version 1.1. Therefore, the Version 1.1 distribution kit contains the following documentation: w DECmcc Management Module Programming (AA-PD5NA-TE) w DECmcc Developer's Toolkit Reference (AA-PD5MA-TE) w DECmcc System Reference Manual, Volume 1 (AA-PD5LA-TE) w DECmcc System Reference Manual, Volume 2 (AA-PE55A-TE) w Enterprise Management Architecture General Description (AA-PD5JA-TE) w Enterprise Management Architecture Entity Model (AA-PD5KA-TE) If you need to order any additional documentation, contact your Digital sales representative, or refer to the ordering information in the Software Documentation Products Directory. The DECmcc System Reference Manual (SRM) specifies the interface technology available for the integration of management modules into the DECmcc software system. The SRM also presents the underlying DECmcc system execution model, defines the system routines available to management modules, and defines the services provided by, and required for, each management module. The SRM can also be ordered separately, by the order numbers listed above. The Enterprise Management Architecture General Description provides an overview of Digital's Enterprise Management Architecture, including its major elements, the Director/Entity Framework, the Director Model (a model for management systems), and the Entity Model (a model for defining the management interface for any manageable entity). The Enterprise Management Architecture Entity Model provides a working draft of the Entity Model. Page 2 AV-PD7FB-TE The DECmcc Developer's Toolkit includes specifications for the Kernel and the management modules in the kit. The specifications, called Module Reference Manuals (MRMs), describe the management and service interfaces provided by each module and the services a module requires from other modules, where applicable. The descriptions are in a standard format. Developers of additional management modules can consult these specifications to ensure that their modules work in concert with modules supplied by DECmcc. The Module Reference Manuals are not available in hard copy; however, the management specifications are supplied in LN03 and PostScript formats. The installation procedure asks you whether you want the MRMs. If you choose to install them, the procedure places the files in the directory SYS$COMMON:[SYSHLP.EXAMPLES.MCC].
