          Thank you for purchasing VAX LISP/VMS Version 3.1. This release
          includes several enhancements to make your VAX LISP applications
          easier to build and maintain. In addition, VAX LISP/VMS Ver-
          sion 3.1 also supports both DECwindows V1.1 and DECwindows V2.0.
          Please refer to the on-line release notes for further informa-
          tion on new features, corrected errors, documentation errors,
          restrictions, and incompatibilities.

          Use of the VAX LISP/VMS DECwindows-based programming environ-
          ment on VAXstations requires the VMS DECwindows environment. VMS
          DECwindows V1.1 is included with the kit for VMS V5.2. Version
          2.0 is included with the kit for VMS V5.3. Both require separate
          installation. VAX LISP/VMS also includes a terminal-based devel-
          opment environment, which does not require VMS DECwindows, for
          VT series terminals. VAX LISP/VMS applications will run on any
          system supporting VAX/VMS Version 5.2 or 5.3.
