Other Hardware Requirements A recommended development system configuration is based on the VAXstation: VAXstation 3100 Model 48 - At least 16MB of memory required 2 DECimage Application Services for VMS, SSA 25.E8.02-A Version 3.0 - 19 inch 1280 X 1024 monochrome or color monitor - One 120MB and one 200MB mass storage device - One TZ50 cartridge tape drive (for software installation) Disk Space Requirements (Block Cluster Size = 1): Disk space required for 16,000 blocks* installation: (8,192K bytes*) Disk space required for 8,000 blocks* use (permanent): (4,096K bytes*) These counts refer to the disk space required on the sys- tem disk. The sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's system environment, configuration, and software options. * These counts include sample bitonal, grayscale and RGB color images. The software may be installed without these sample images, reducing the amount of disk space required by approximately 6,000 blocks or 3,072K bytes for instal- lation and permanent use. Memory Requirements for DECwindows Motif® Support The minimum supported memory for this application running in a standalone DECwindows Motif environment with both the client and server executing on that same system is 12MB. The performance and memory usage of DECwindows applications are particularly sensitive to system configuration. Less mem- ory may be required on the client system (the system where the software is installed and executed) if the server (the component that displays the application) resides on another 3 DECimage Application Services for VMS, SSA 25.E8.02-A Version 3.0 system. More memory may be required on a system with sev- eral applications running, or where it may be desirable to improve the performance of an application. The minimum memory supported is 12MB. However, the use of this software in conjunction with increased memory capabil- ity improves performance. The memory size suggested for most typical hardware configurations is at least 16MB. OPTIONAL HARDWARE o Digital LAN adapter for remote system communication to a DECimage Application Services scan server. o MD300, MD400, or MD410 image scanner. o LN03 PLUS laser printer with RS232 hardware interface is recommended for printing images. Additional bitmap print- ers (Any Digital PostScript® or sixel) are also supported. o DECimage 1200 X Windows Terminal. Note: Version 3.0 of this software product supports only U.S. English. CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT This layered product is fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VAXcluster* configuration without re- strictions.
