IBQ$RMX51I.EXT, an include file for 8044 programs is placed in * [SYSHLP.EXAMPLES.IBQ] CHAPTER 4 POST INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS 4.1 THE VAX DECSCAN VMS BITBUS DRIVER SOFTWARE STARTUP PROCEDURE The DECscan BITBUS software builds a startup procedure for the VMS driver. The startup procedure is named IBQ$STRUP.COM, and is placed in SYS$MANAGER. You should edit SYSTARTUP.COM to invoke this procedure at boot time. The following line should be added to your site-specific startup command file, SYSTARTUP.COM. $ @SYS$MANAGER:IBQ$STRUP.COM CHAPTER 5 INSTALLATION VERIFICATION 5.1 VAX DECSCAN VMS AND ELN BITBUS DRIVERS SOFTWARE INSTALLATION VERIFICATION PROCEDURE The DECscan BITBUS software contains separate installation verification procedures for the DECscan VAXELN software and IBQ01 VAX/VMS software. For the DECscan VAX/VMS software, IBQ$IVP.EXE verifies the correct installation of the software. This procedure is placed in the [.IBQ] subdirectory of the SYS$TEST directory by the installation procedure. The IVP is composed of three tests designed to verify the major functional components of the DECscan BITBUS software. Successful completion of the IVP indicates that the DECscan BITBUS software was installed correctly. For the DECscan VAXELN software, a command procedure (IBQ$ELNIVP) verifies correct installation of the DECscan VAXELN software only. No hardware testing is performed. The DECscan BITBUS software IVPs may be run during the installation itself, or at any time afterwards. VMSINSTAL invokes the IVP after the software components are moved to their target directories. You will receive a message that the IVP is complete, and whether the IVP was successful or not. Please note that running the IVP independent of the installation will require the process to have SYSPRV, CMEXEC, and CMKRNL privileges. To run the IVP independently of the installation procedure, type: $ RUN SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSTEST.IBQ]IBQ$IVP.EXE (VMS software) or $ @SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSTEST.IBQ]IBQ$ELNIVP (VAXELN software) The IVP will then run tests of the DECscan BITBUS software, and print a SUCCESS/FAIL message next to the test number. When the tests are complete, the IVP displays a SUCCESS/FAIL message stating whether or not the installation was successful. Compare your output with the expected output contained in Appendix A or B. NOTE The DECscan BITBUS software IVP (IBQ$IVP.EXE or IBQ$ELNIVP.COM) is independent of the DECscan BITBUS software. If you need to recover disk space, you may delete this file without any adverse effect on DECscan BITBUS software. If errors occur during the IVP, see Chapter 6 for information on error recovery. 5.2 RUNNING THE IVP There are no manual interventions required to run either of the DECscan BITBUS IVPs. 5.3 OUTPUT OF THE IVP A sample of the IVP output is shown in Appendix A or B. CHAPTER 6 ERROR RECOVERY The following is a list of errors you may receive during the running of VMS install, and the solutions for correcting the errors. 6.1 INSTALLATION ERRORS 1. Error -- QUANTITY-F-NOSPACE, Insufficient disk space for installation. Solution -- Your system does not have enough free blocks on the system disk to install the DECscan BITBUS software. See Chapter 2, Section 2.3, for disk space requirements. 2. For an explanation of any LICENSE facility messages or errors and of any corresponding User Actions required, please reference the VMS License Management Utility Reference Manual. 6.2 VERIFICATION ERRORS 1. Error -- %IBQ01-F-ACC, Error accessing IBQ01REC, file not found. Solution -- The startup procedure (IBQ$STRUP.COM) has not been executed. See Chapter 4, Section 4.1, for information on the IBQ01 startup command procedure. 2. Error -- %RMS-F-PRV, No privilege for the attempted operation. Solution -- You are attempting to use the IVP without the proper privileges. See Chapter 5, Section 5.1, for information on the privileges needed to run the IVP. 6.3 PROBLEM DETERMINATION REPORTING If the error occurs while an IBQ01 program is being compiled or executed, and you have reason to believe that the error is due to a problem with the DECscan BITBUS software, you should submit a Software Performance Report (SPR). When you prepare an SPR, please do the following: 1. Provide as complete a description of the problem as possible, trying not to overlook any details. Include in the description the version number of DECscan BITBUS software. 2. Reduce the problem to as small a size as possible, preferably to a program of 200 source lines or less, including user INCLUDE files. 3. Submit program sources on machine-readable media (floppy diskette or magnetic tape) if possible. All media will be returned when the SPR is answered. 4. Provide a listing of the program, compiled with the DECscan BITBUS software command, /LIST/CROSS_REFERENCE/SHOW=ALL. 5. Remember to include listings of any command files, linker maps, relevant data files, and so on.
