VAX DSM Version 6.0A

          Dear VAX DSM Customer:

          This letter describes the VAX DSM Version 6.0A Software Dis-
          tribution Kit. Version 6.0A is a maintenance release of VAX DSM
          software that is compatible with DSM applications written under
          all previous versions of VAX DSM, and with VMS Version 5.2 or
          higher.

          Your VAX DSM distribution kit includes only media (TK50 tape
          cartridge, CDROM, or magnetic tape), unless you are a first time
          VAX DSM customer, in which case it also contains a documentation
          set and a Product Authorization Key (PAK). (The VAX DSM docu-
          mentation set is also available on the VMS Online Documentation
          Library Compact Disk. These documentation files can be used with
          the VMS DECwindows Bookreader.)

          VAX DSM Version 6.0A supports the VMS License Management Fa-
          cility (LMF), which requires that you register the information
          contained in your Product Authorization Key (PAK). See the VAX
          DSM Version 6.0 Release Notes and the VMS License and Management
          Utility Manual for additional information.

          If you are installing VAX DSM software for the first time, read
          Chapter 1 of the VAX DSM Installation and Management Guide.
          It describes the installation procedure in detail. If you are
          upgrading from a previous VAX DSM release, read Chapters 1 and 2
          of the VAX DSM Version 6.0 Release Notes. You can upgrade your
          VAX DSM Version 6.0 volume sets directly to VAX DSM Version
          6.0A. Once the VAX DSM Version 6.0A software is installed,
          follow the upgrade procedures detailed in Chapter 2 of the VAX
          DSM Version 6.0 Release Notes.

          A copy of the Release Notes is distributed in hard copy with
          the documentation set and on line as a file within the VAX
          DSM Version 6.0A distribution kit. You can obtain a copy of
          these Release Notes when you install Version 6.0A by using the
          "OPTIONS N" parameter with the VMSINSTAL procedure. For example:

               $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL DSM <kit device> OPTIONS N

          where <kit device> is a tape or disk device on which the DSM kit
          is located, for example: MUA0:. The device can be specified by a
          logical name.

          After installation, the online Release Notes are available in
          the file:

               SYS$HELP:DSM060.RELEASE_NOTES
