Processors Not Supported VAX-11/725, VAX-11/782, MicroVAX I, VAXstation I, VAXstation 8000 Other Hardware Requirements Minimum disk required: One RD54 or two RZ23 disks Terminals: VT100 Block Space Requirements (Block Cluster Size = 1): With Rdb/VMS Disk space required for installation: 48,500 blocks (25.0M bytes) Disk space required for use (permanent): 42,500 blocks (22.0M bytes) Without Rdb/VMS Disk space required for installation: 25,500 blocks (13.0M bytes) Disk space required for use (permanent): 24,500 blocks (12.5M bytes) These counts refer to the disk space required on the system disk. The sizes are approximate; actual sizes may vary depending on the user's system environment, configuration, and software options. Memory Requirements The minimum supported memory for this application running in a standalone DECwindows environment with both the client and server executing on that same system is 8 MB. The performance and memory usage of DECwindows applications are particularly sensitive to system configuration. Less memory may be required on the client system (the system where the software is installed and executed) if the server (the component that displays the application) resides on another system. More memory may be required on a system with several applications running or where it may be desirable to improve the performance of an application. The minimum memory supported is 8 MB. However, the use of this software in conjunction with increased memory capability improves performance. The memory size suggested for most typical hardware configurations is at least 12 MB. OPTIONAL HARDWARE DECdecision text files can be printed on any Digital text printer. DECdecision PostScriptRO files can be printed using any Digital PostScript printer (ScriptPrinter LN03R, PrintServer 20, PrintServer 40, or the PrintServer 40 Plus laser printer). DECchart produces both monochrome and color PostScript. Monochrome PostScript can be printed using any Digital PostScript printer (ScriptPrinter LN03R, PrintServer 20, PrintServer 40, and the PrintServer 40 Plus Laser Printer). If the DECprint Utility for PostScript to Sixel Printing for VMS is installed, then DECchart PostScript output (either color or monochrome) can be printed on the Digital LJ250 Companion Color Printer. CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT This layered product is fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VAXcluster* configuration without restrictions. The HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS sections of this product's Software Product Description and System Support Addendum detail any special hardware required by this product. * V5.x VAXcluster configurations are fully described in the VAXcluster Software Product Description (29.78.xx) and include CI, Ethernet, and Mixed Interconnect configurations. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS For Workstations Running DECwindows VMS Operating System V5.3-1 (and necessary components of VMS DECwindows) For PC DECwindows Interoperability DECnet PCSA Client for DOS V3.0 - PC DECwindows Display Facility V2.0 (SPD 55.07.xx) and VMS Services for PCs V3.0 (SPD 30.50.xx). For more information, refer to the DECwindows Interoperability Compliance Matrix Software Product Description (SPD 01.25.xx). This product may run in either of the following ways: Stand-alone execution - Running the X11 display server and the client application on the same machine. Remote execution - Running the X11 display server and the client application on different machines. VMS DECwindows is part of the VMS Operating System but must be installed separately. Installation of VMS DECwindows gives you the option to install any or all of the following three components: VMS DECwindows Compute Server (Base kit; includes runtime support) VMS DECwindows Device Support VMS DECwindows Programming Support For stand-alone execution, the following DECwindows components must be installed on the machine: VMS DECwindows Compute Server VMS DECwindows Device Support For remote execution, the following DECwindows components must be installed on the machine: Server Machine VMS DECwindows Compute Server VMS DECwindows Device Support Client Machine VMS DECwindows Compute Server Rdb/VMS V3.1A Runtime Kit is included with DECdecision. If you upgrade to a future version of VMS that does not support Rdb/VMS V3.1A, it is necessary to install the latest version of Rdb/VMS. (The Rdb/VMS Runtime license is packaged with VMS and therefore, does not require a separate license.) VMS Tailoring For VMS V5.x systems, the following VMS class is required for full functionality of this layered product: oo VMS Required Saveset Optional: Network Support (Required for Client/Server split) For more information on VMS classes and tailoring, refer to the VMS Operating System Software Product Description (SPD 25.01.xx). OPTIONAL SOFTWARE DECwrite for VMS V1.0 CDA Converter Library for VMS V1.0 in conjunction with DEC GKS for VMS V4.0 (For additional converters and color hardcopy support) VAX DATATRIEVE V5.0 (For access to DTR domains, DBMS, and RMS) VIDA for DB2 V1.0 (For access to IBMRO data) VIDA with IDMS/R V2.2 (For access to IBM data) GROWTH CONSIDERATIONS The minimum hardware/software requirements for any future version of this product may be different from the minimum requirements for the current version.
