             DEC GKS Version 4.1 Patch for ReGIS Devices

             Dear Customer,

             This patch fixes a problem that causes DEC GKS Version 4.1
             input functions not to work on VT125, VT240, and VT340 (with-
             out a mouse) devices. Without this patch, programs that use
             input through these devices may hang.

             Apply this patch to a DEC GKS Version 4.1 image only. The
             date on the DEC GKS Version 4.1 image should be 28-FEB-1990.

             To apply this patch, copy VAXGFX$REGIS_DEV_HANDLER.EXE from
             SYS$LIBRARY: to a work directory. Execute the following
             commands:

               $PATCH VAXGFX$REGIS_DEV_HANDLER.EXE <RETURN>
               PATCH >SET ECO 1 <RETURN>
               PATCH >DELETE/INSTRUCTION 0000F1A6='BEQL    0000F1EA' <RETURN>
               PATCH >REPLACE/INSTRUCTION 0F1F4 <RETURN>
               OLD >'BRW     0000F738' <RETURN>
               OLD >EXIT <RETURN>
               NEW >'BRW     0000F3DC' <RETURN>
               NEW >EXIT <RETURN>
               PATCH >UPDATE <RETURN>
               PATCH >EXIT <RETURN>
               $

             Test the result by defining the logical name VAXGFX$REGIS_
             DEV_HANDLER to point to your new copy, as follows:

                   $ DEFINE vaxgfx$regis_dev_handler $disk:[user]vaxgfx$regis_
          dev_handler.exe

             You should attempt to run a GKS program that uses VT125,
             VT240, or VT340 (without a mouse) input. If the program
             runs properly, the patch was successful. If it does not run
             properly, contact your local support center.

             If the patch was successful, copy the patched DEC GKS Version
             4.1 image back to SYS$LIBRARY:. Use INSTALL to replace the
             existing copy, as follows:

               $INSTALL <RETURN>
               INSTALL >REPLACE SYS$LIBRARY:vaxgfx$regis_dev_handler.exe <RETURN>
               INSTALL >EXIT <RETURN>
