                                      COVER LETTER

               Introduction

               ALL-IN-1 V2.4-1 also known as ALL-IN-1 V2.4 UPDATE Ver-
               sion 2.0 contains one saveset. It does not make any
               changes to language-dependent parts of ALL-IN-1 Version
               2.4. Though the installation does require that the sys-
               tem manager execute a post-installation command file to
               ensure that language-dependant functionality is updated.

               Install this update kit using VMSINSTAL. You do NOT need
               to install any previous patches or Update kits (this
               is the first Update released by ALL-IN-1 Engineering),
               before you install this update kit.

               The Release Notes included in the Update kit contain:

               o  Details of the problems fixed by this Update

               o  Details of any hardware and software required

               o  Disk space requirements for this Update

               o  Sample installation and deinstallation procedures

               Accessing the Online Release Notes

               To obtain a copy of the Release Notes:

               1. Specify OPTIONS N in the VMSINSTAL command:

                  $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL A1024SUS020 dev: OPTIONS N

                  where 'dev' is the name of the device on which the
                  distribution media is to be mounted.

               2. After you have mounted the distribution media, VMSIN-
                  STAL displays the following prompt:

                  Additional Release Notes Options:

                  1. Display release notes

                  2. Print release notes

                  3. Both 1 and 2

                  4. None of the above

                  * Select option [2]:

                  Enter the number of the option you require.

                  You can choose to discontinue the installation proce-
                  dure at this point.

               After you have installed the update, the Release Notes
               are stored in the file SYS$HELP:A1024SUS020.RELEASE_NOTES.

                                         NOTE 1

               The Update kit makes changes to the command dispatch
               mechanism. These changes make all pre-compiled forms
               libraries (.FLC files) obsolete. It is therefore es-
               sential that the installer re-compiles ALL previously
               compiled FORM and TEXT libraries (.FLCs and .TXLs) for
               both the base product and any additional Layered Prod-
               ucts, ASSETs or third party vendors software which are
               integrated into ALL-IN-1. This is fully covered in the
               on-line release notes - please read these carefully
               before commencing installation.

                                         NOTE 2

               If you are planning to install the WPS-PLUS V4 OPTION
               kit then you must

               1. install this kit (ALL-IN-1 V2.4 UPDATE V2.0) first,

               2. complete the post-installation operations

               3. check that you have have a fully operational ALL-IN-1
                  system

               before installing the WPS-PLUS V4 OPTION.

                                         NOTE 3

               If you have ALL-IN-1 Services for DECwindows V1.0 in-
               stalled, or plan to install this kit at a later date,
               then you will have to make the following correction to
               the file MICA$LIB_SHARE:MICA$PUB.SCP before you attempt
               to execute the products post-installation procedures.

               Change line 12 as follows:
